You stand there in shock momentarily as you try to process what has just happened.
You just argued with your husband - whom, for the record, you'd only recently married.
Now, he wishes otherwise.
"What..." you whisper to yourself as you set the telephone receiver down gently.
Your eyes begin to tear up as the confusion consumed you. You always assumed that Michael would understand you no matter what but the preceding events ignited a sense of doubt within you about your husband.
"Is everything okay (Y/N)?" Carol walks out of the kitchen and stops suddenly as she notices your teary eyes. "(Y/N)..."
"We argued," you say softly, avoiding her gaze. "And he said he wished we weren't married," you begin to sob as you say the words out loud.
"He said that?" Carol whispers in shock and you shrug.
"Not those exact words but..." you sniff, wiping away the tears that continue to fall down your face. "That's the idea,"
What made things worse for you was that Michael was supposed to come back home to you briefly before resuming his tour. You had been looking forward to seeing your husband again but after the encounter that you'd just had with him on the telephone - you were surer than anything that he was not going to be coming home anytime soon.
"Oh my..." Carol approaches you slowly in an attempt to console you. "I'm so sorry," she shakes her head. "Maybe he was just stressed. I heard the crowds were wild tonight," she attempts a smile.
"Yeah..." you sigh hesitantly. "You know what? I'm just going back upstairs to sleep," you huff, despite the fact that it was still midday.
The best way you felt to deal with things was to sleep off the initial overwhelming emotion.
Carol just nods and you drag your feet as you move slowly - each step representing your puzzled dilemma.
You cannot believe how fast things had gone wrong.

Your eyes flutter open as you lay in bed. You stare blankly for a moment before sitting up slowly and looking around the room. As you rub your eyes, you note that it's around midnight after glancing at your elegant wrist watch.
You exhale deeply as the events from earlier on in the day begin to flood your mind. You hear bustling downstairs and you smile as you think of Carol.
She's probably still awake.
As you bring your feet over the bed and set them down on the carpeted floor, a plethora of gift bags in your favorite color sitting by the corner of the bed catch your eye. You frown deeply and you become even more confused as you notice a little red envelope sitting on the bedside table.
"What the hell..." you mutter to yourself.
Someone had been inside the room and you had been sleeping throughout.
You slowly reach for the envelope, opening it gently as you bring it closer to your face. You unfold the beautiful red paper inside and you study the finely printed words as you begin to read.
I know I'm a jerk and I can't say enough how sorry I am for being a complete idiot. Princess, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me and I was a fool for being as thoughtless as I was on the telephone. Please forgive me.
Love, Michael.
P.S. I hope the teddy bear doesn't scare you.
You gasp a little, clutching your chest as you notice the huge teddy bear at the end of the room. It was bigger than you.
