"Adeia darling! Hurry up, the family's almost here," you say lovingly as you knock on your seventeen year old daughter's room door.
"Yeah mom," you hear her say softly. "I'll be there,"
You frown slightly, sensing that something was wrong.
"What's wrong honey?" you ask softly as you lean against her door.
You and Michael had been married for eighteen wonderful years. The love you two shared was so immense and passionate that even after so many years, the butterflies you'd felt all those years ago were just as evident now. The product of such a love was your gorgeous daughter, Adeia. Adeia was a splitting image of you except for the fact that she had Michael's hair.
Today, Michael's family was coming over for a little gathering to celebrate the wondrous years spent in bliss. You'd all agreed to come together to thank God for all his blessings upon everyone.
"Nothing," you hear Adeia sob quietly and you knock on her door once again.
"Open the door Adeia," you say gently. "I want to see you,"
Adeia had been taught never to disobey her parents so she opened the door without being told twice. You gasped slightly at the sight of your daughter. She was a complete vision in a sleeveless blush dress that fell at her knees. Her black curly hair was braided neatly and her cheeks were tear stained.
Wait...tear stained?
"Baby...what happened?" you walk up to her and cup her face in your hands. "Why are you crying?"
"It's nothing mom," she sniffs a little while wiping her face with the back of her hand. "Don't worry,"
"Adeia," you say firmly and she looks at you. "Why are you crying?" you raise an eyebrow and she shakes her head.
"Can I tell you after-"
"Hello my two gorgeous lad-" Michael pauses, stopping at the doorway when he notices Adeia's expression. "What's wrong?" he frowns and attempts to approach the two of you but you hold your hand out as if to say 'stop'.
"Michael, can you give us a minute?" you ask gently and he nods.
"Sure..." he says hesitantly before continuing. "But everyone's already downstairs so..." he trails off and you nod in understanding.
"We won't be long," you smile and he walks away.
"Mom..." Adeia whispers softly and you direct your gaze at her. "Can we talk after lunch? I'm not in the mood to talk about it now," she says shyly and you caress her hair gently.
"Of course," you sigh. "If you want to talk after lunch then so be it," you chuckle lightly. "Now let's get downstairs darling...they're all waiting for us," you hug her briefly before pulling away to admire her. "You're very beautiful,"
"Thanks mom," she says without emotion as she rubs her hands over her dress.
"Now let's get downstairs, shall we?"

"Oh my!" Katherine exclaims as she rushes up to Adeia. "She's so gorgeous!"
"She looks just like (Y/N)!" Jermaine chuckles lowly. "Certainly doesn't look anything like Michael,"
"Shut up," Michael mutters playfully. "She's got my hair," he raises an eyebrow.
"Unfortunately," Janet pipes in and you all begin to laugh. "I'm joking," Janet begins again as she walks up to Adeia. "You really are gorgeous,"
"Thank you," Adeia blushes a deep shade of red as she keeps her eyes on her feet.
