"Then I decided to-" you stopped midway through your sentence as you realized that Michael wasn't paying attention to anything you'd been saying for the past thirty minutes.

You were standing behind Michael as he sat at his work desk in the study, trying to compose his lyrics for a song. Ever since he'd arrived home that afternoon, he wasn't interested in anything you had to say.

"Michael," you paused, "maybe I should just go," you offered.

"Uh what?" he sounded lost, "no, no, I'm listening," he remarked absentmindedly while continuing to scribble on his yellow notepad.

"You're not," you shrugged as you realized that once again, he was focusing on something else.

You quietly marched out of the study and into the library, closing the door behind you. You understood that Michael was busy and that he was currently trying to compose new songs for his upcoming album, therefore you didn't want to put too much pressure on him as his wife. However, he had become very detached from you and you were trying your best not to pay attention to his sudden coldness toward you.

It had been like this for five months now and you were getting more and more impatient as the days progressed.

You sighed in annoyance as you picked out a thick novel and began to read - refusing to focus on anything else but the story and it's meaning. As you read, you became so engrossed in the story that you forgot it had been several hours since you'd entered the library. Reading was certainly your passion.

You glanced quickly at your wrist watch and realized that it was way past you and Michael's dinner time. You wondered if he'd eaten anything and decided to check with Carol, your housemaid.

You made your way downstairs to the living room and searched for Carol, finding her dusting off the grand piano.

"Carol," you smiled politely as she turned to face you.

"Mrs. Jackson!" she smiled back, "is there anything I can do for you?" she asked with kind eyes.

"Yes, Michael and I were supposed to have dinner two hours ago and I was wondering if Gina prepared anything?" you smiled shyly. "If she didn't then it's fine. I'll try to prepare something," you giggle.

"Uh...Mrs. Jackson," Carol paused. "Didn't you just come back from dinner?" she frowned in confusion and you mimicked her expression.

"What?" you shook your head.

"With Mr. Jackson? He left two hours ago saying that he was going out to dinner," Carol explained.

"He left?" you gasped slightly as you tried to process what was going on. You rushed up to the study to find it empty and his notes scattered everywhere on the desk. You then proceeded to run into you and Michael's bedroom and realized that he didn't even leave a note to inform you that he was leaving.

"Mrs. Jackson?" Carol asked worriedly and you realized that she'd followed you.

"Yes Carol?" you asked shakily, trying your best not to cry.

"Are you okay?" she sympathized.

"Yes," you nodded as you choked back several sobs. "That'll be all," you said as you closed the bedroom door.

You collapsed onto the bed and began to sob. Nothing broke you more than someone who didn't care at all. Before you knew it, everything was black.

Your eyes fluttered open as you realized you'd fallen asleep. You checked your wrist watch and noted that you'd been asleep for half an hour. You stood up and stared at the wall for a moment, trying to collect your thoughts.
