Daniel

The day ended so soon when I just felt it started. That aside, I was already curious since I woke up today, to the time I ate my breakfast, til I walked here to school, til I sat in my first period beside Jake (who apparently seem to be suspiciously silent), til the next period across, then the next one and so on until I finished the whole shitty day of boring lectures with the only thought of what would Jake be doing there once I arrive. He knows pretty well I hate surprises, yet it may be something special that he had to keep it away from every one. He knows how to deal with this things and I know he's really good at it.

Instead of going back home to pick up my car, I took a bus going up to his grandparents' abandoned house. It is where all the love began, I should say. Going back there again to meet him since that day he knew my secret makes me wonder how come he's still in love with me and not to someone or somebody else. He deserves someone better than I am but despite of all my mistakes, he still chose me over hundreds of them.

Jake was sitting on the steps, holding his head down like praying. I walked closer to him and touched his shoulder, smiling. I was more expecting him to be dressed in a gentleman's clothing, instead he was covered with oil and grease and on his work jumpsuit. "Heh, thought you'd back out and I was already planning to pick you up from school."

"It did came into my head, ditching you but it would seem that I don't really care about you. You did all your effort and I must say, I'm totally impressed, never expected you to do things like those before." I sat beside him, laid my head on his shoulders and closed my eyes. "But I'll be honest with you, you don't have to do all of it. I was just an idiot, trying to make you prove something for me."

"And it did work, everything went as what I wanted them to be. All of them were all for you Dan. Don't you forget about it." He cupped my cheeks and kissed my forehead. "So what's this thing you wanted to show me and why does it have to be here? I didn't see anything important or special when I came here the last time we met."

He pointed towards a small barn at the back. "It's hidden from anybody, and all the caretakers my grandparents trusted kept that place intact. Inside that place is something I've worked so hard and I really wanted to show that to you before but it never had a chance to start into life. But now, it's finally working." He picked me up, bridal style, and carried me through. I dug my face into his chest and smelled him like I never did before. It never disgusted me, the oil and machine and that strong aroma from him. It's already a part of him that I got used to and I'm fine with that.

He gently put me down to the ground and opened the dark and dusty barn. Scattered around the place were car parts that I couldn't name but I do recognize them and at the back a rather familiar shape was hidden beneath a wide cloth. "Would you take the cover off for me?" handing me a small rope that would pull the sheet off. Quickly, I pulled it out and what it revealed was a true piece of heaven. "That 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Stingray! How- What- where.... when?" My head kept on telling me words to speak but they all came out of my mouth as mumbling.

"It's the same old Corvette that I bought to you a few years back. I never knew how to fix a car back then that's why I took automotive courses and started to work on it. It's engine was seriously damaged because of age and I couldn't find any replacement of it at all, so I thought of putting a newer engine on it. Still a 427 block but from a current generation Corvette. It's not the purest, but I know how much you love this car.", opening the hood and showing me that shining engine with almost everything in it brand new.

"But it did cost you a lot. You shouldn't have spent so much money on it and-"

"It's all for you, and I wanted this to be the most important gift for you."

"Jake, you never did gave up on me, don't you?"

He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me in closer to him, his hot breath from his nose hitting my forehead as he leaned in closer down to my level. An unhinged feeling that he made me feel right now, it's intoxicating, addicting. That love, it was never lost. It was only kept , hidden away. "Daniel, I never ever gave up on you. Even if you lost your way, I will still find you and make you and keep you mine."

Followed that was a gentle kiss, the touch of his soft, cherry red lips against my pale and cold lips. We smiled once we broke that kiss. "Would you like to take that for a spin?"

"Gladly!" We both hopped in, with me on the driver's seat. A few loud revs before leaving huge tyre marks behind. The sound, it snorts, yet it keeps me alive. And with Jake beside me, it's never gonna die. I won't die.

As we tread along the road, my head felt light, floating around and I can hear someone calling out my name. Then when I looked at Jake, it was then, a light flashed. "

Dan, wake up. Guys! He's waking up!"
