It was celebration time and everybody was having so much fun. We danced, played games, had a dance competition, where my friend revealed how bad he still is at dancing. I was surrounded by all the good people in my life but my mind couldn't stay off how Samuel had grown. His touch, too. Everytime he was around me or near me I could feel the butterflies flutter in my tummy. I was beginning to think I was crazy but maybe I liked him. So I took matters into my own hands.

"Henry.. Can we talk?"
"Sure."

Henry is also a friend of ours. I had a few questions to ask him.

"Do you think Samuel is single?"
"Why don't you ask him?" he chuckled.
"If I ask him, he's going to think I like him." I said.
"Well, don't you?"
"No man, that doesn't matter."
"Because everyone can clearly see the chemistry."
"Really?" I blushed.
"Yeah. So?"
"How about we sneak on his Facebook profile?" I suggested.
"Sure."

I was surprised that Henry agreed so easily.

We logged in and clicked on his profile. I especially scrolled through his wall with my fingers crossed and there it was! My heart sank.

"And?" Henry asked.
"He has a girlfriend. Check."

I showed him the profile.

"That's too bad then. Sorry."
"Wait, Henry." I was so determined.
"Aha?"
"Let's check the day this was posted and IF it still appears on his relationships and not his timeline." I said.
We checked, or I checked and I felt hopeful. Although on his timeline it said relationship, he removed it from his relationships and that could possibly only mean one thing. That he's actually not in a relationship! I just needed confirmation but how!

"Thanks, Henry! He's single!"
"Now go make your move."

Henry was so casual about this.

So I walked to where everybody else was. I had to get confirmation that he was single.

"Some of our friends would make good couples right?" I started.
"Definitely." he laughed.
"Well, that ship has sailed for me. I don't know, there aren't any good men I'm coming across."
He looked at me with a happily surprised face.
"Well. I could say the same. I've tried with women but nothing works.  By the way excuse me, there are decent men out here!"
"Haha like who? Tell me." I laughed.
"Come on, look at me."
"Shut up, Sam." I laughed with butterflies in my tummy and relief.

He held my arm and I lay my head on his chest. I've done this for so many years but this time it felt different.

"I have to leave early today. I will be back to help pack up tomorrow."
"Oh, where are you off to?"
"I need to drop my nephews off at the movies. I made them a promise."
"That's sweet. So I guess I will see you tomorrow then."
"Yes. Definitely."
"Goodbye then, Sam. It was good to see you, my friend"
"See you, Courtney."

I went back into the crowd of friends when I saw Samuel walk back.

He pulled his phone out and I knew what he wanted.

"Your existing numbers, please! So I can keep in touch with you." he smiled.
"Sure." I entered my numbers and double checked just to make sure they are correct.

There was an awkward moment of 'should we hug or not'.

And it happened. He couldn't help it. This time he grabbed me and brought me closer into his body. It felt so good. My butterflies were fluttering again.

"Goodbye." I smiled at him.
"Bye, Courtney."

When I turned back to my friends, Justin was already waiting for news.

"There is nothing to tell, Justin. Party on!" I laughed.
