I stood up, trying to figure out if I should run after him. My mind was all over. I looked at White, White looked at me remorsefully as if to say I should run after James.

I couldn't bring myself to do it. I needed to give him a day to collect himself and calm down. What was I doing here anyway? Samuel wasn't my man or anything to me. I took my bags and left.

When I arrived home, I was absolutely mellow. I dragged my feet walking into the house and threw my handbag on the couch.

My mother looked at me with a disappointing look. I knew what she was going to bring up.

"What happened at the hospital?"
"Some stuff...I don't want to talk about it."
There was silence.
"He's a good man, Courtney Cox. I can't understand how you could-"
"Mom! The father of my child is in hospital what was I to do?"
"Leave him alone! That's what! He hasn't been here for you why are you still running to save a man who doesn't want to be saved? Where was Lizelle huh? What was her reaction to all this?"
I grabbed my handbag and looked my mom in the eye :
"Lizelle wasn't there. There was no trace of her and nobody knows where she is. Goodnight."

I went upstairs feeling irritated. I had to figure out what I was going to say to James tomorrow.
