After having that whole episode pass me, I told Lily what had happened.
"So. Here I am walking to get hotdogs as I told you."
"Ah-uh"
"And boom. I bump into Samuel!" I exclaimed.
"I saw that." Lily was curious.
"We talk and he asks how the baby is."
"Yes?"
"I tell him he's fine. Next thing, this girl pops out of nowhere. Nowhere!" I exclaim.
"The one I saw?"
"Exactly! her!"
"And he changes completely. He introduces me as a pal from way back."
"The nerve!" Lily gasped.
"Tell me about it! I mean who does he think he is?"I turned to stare at nothing. When I came back to reality, I saw the two of them together. Holding hands, laughing, walking to his friends.
I felt like a stranger on the outside looking in. It was painful. There was suddenly thunder.
"Oh. I think this is our cue to leave." Lily said.
It wasn't exactly our cue to leave. My friend could see I was in pain and didn't want to make it worse for me. I agreed with her , I had to leave this place.
"You're right. Let's go."
"Girl...you have to stop staring at them. It hurts you." she sighed.
She grabbed my hand and as we left I looked back one last time and saw him looking at me.
There was no remorse from his side at all.The drive home was very silent. I could see Lily trying her best to cheer me up. I appreciated her efforts. All I really wanted to do was get home and sleep, though.
