"So, how have you been Miss Johnson?!" The buff, dark-skinned woman behind the counter just raised a thin eyebrow as she continued to sign off the papers she had in front of her with the same annoyed expression.

"Not in the mood for having to tolerate you or your delinquent daughter, Mr. Mine, even though she is protesting for good causes. Maybe you should teach her that disturbing public peace is not a way to make the government listen and do something about Women Rights. If she wants women rights she definitely needs to work harder and find better ways to make her voice be heard."

She passed the paper to some other officer which immediately took off to go and execute the order the policewoman signed.

"I know, but you also know how passionate Mavis can be about human rights and making every voice be heard..."

The woman just bluntly glared at him.

"Do you know what time it is Mr. Mine?"

"6:30?"

"6:21, on a hot morning, in a police station with you, a father having spent the last two hours waiting outside for someone to sign the release papers for your daughter, and me, that couldn't cook the breakfasts for my children which I try and work so hard for. Life is not fair Mr. Mine and you can't protest for everything. Tell Mavis to find something worthy to protest on with less trouble."

Mrs. Johnson did look quite flabbergasted like someone who had planned for a week to cook pancakes on that beautiful morning and the moment the food got ready to eat someone took it from her. Maybe that was the case after all.

"Mavis Mine is out and released." The officer that took the signed paper returned with a tired Mavis behind him as she gave her dad a weak hello. She noticed her dad's awkward posture with his big arms supporting his weight on the counter. He looked like he had been eating a lot of lemons and had a long night trying to sweeten things up.

Apparently, he couldn't have been seductive enough to make Mrs. Johnson come in peace and Mavis had to suppress a smile as she stood in front of her dad and Mrs. Johnson whose eyes were narrowed and weary.

"Hi!" Mavis said awkwardly.

Mrs. Johnson just rolled her big chocolate eyes (that looked so only if she was angry and close to you) and sipped her cup of coffee with the milk still floating around probably because she had forgotten to stir it.

"As always there is no criminal record in your name Mavis, but can you please get arrested when I am not asleep or in the mood to skip breakfast for you?!"

Mavis smiled at her and went by her father's side ready to go and lay down on her warm bed.

"I'll give you a call and warn you before I do something next time okay?"

Mrs. Johnson didn't even reply to her as she just waved them off and finally Mavis was out of the police station.

Again.

"It's getting harder to seduce that woman you know," her dad huffed as he unlocked the car from the distance and walked on the sidewalk that was getting crowded with people after every minute that passed. "Besides, why am I supposed to seduce her when my daughter is the one that needs to behave?!"

Mavis just stretched her arms and breathed the heavy air outside. It was her mark to remind her dad that she just got out of the temporary prison she was in after a long night protesting about Women Rights; her latest protesting topic.

"Dad I'm hungry."

Mavis's dad just gave her a side glare while he opened his door and entered the driver's side.
