"Do you always have to sit in front of the class?" Kira greeted her grumpily as she sank in the chair next to her.
"Good morning!" was all Mavis said as she covered her face even more with her hair.
"What's up?" Kira asked after noticing the way Mavis was trying to hide her self in between a chair and a table. Almost as if she thought her hair made her invisible.
"Nothing."
Kira's eyebrow shot up. Apparently, Mavis' short answer made her even more curious.
"Did something happened?" She asked again.
"No!"
Mavis took a deep breath, curiosity killing her slowly inside.
"Listen. Kira..."
"Yeah?!"
"Is Hunter in class yet?" Mavis whispered trying hard not to be heard by anyone but Kira.
Fortunately, Kira did hear her.
"Nope. Not yet. Why ask?"
Mavis shook her head. She wasn't about to tell Kira what had happened. About the kiss. She couldn't tell anyone.
Kira wouldn't even be the first one to laugh in her face and make fun of her. Not only had she been stupid enough to kiss Hunter but she had been rejected angrily from him.
Of course, he had been angry. Hunter had already made it clear he wasn't going to kiss her. He had just teased her enough to play with her mind and yet she had been the one to close the distance.
But he did kiss you back! Her mind tried to defend her. But she knew it wasn't rare for someone to kiss an unwanted kisser back. At first, he kissed her back but then he pushed her away.
Mavis would have been less ashamed of what had happened. She would have chucked it down to just a kiss to keep him away from her brother and the controller (after all Hunter hadn't gone after Justin to ask for the controller) but she couldn't keep replaying it in her head, wishing she had been more aware and savored his kiss longer.
"You are blushing and you are acting really weirdly," Kira observed making Mavis sink even further into her chair.
"Did something happened between you and Hunter?" she asked again.
Mavis shook her head furiously.
After that, they both stood in silence for a while. Kira trying to figure out what had happened and Mavis waiting for Hunter to enter the classroom any second now. She hadn't seen him since the kiss.
"Baby wait for me!" Kira and Mavis heard a loud shriek and both turned around at the same time.
Mavis realized soon she shouldn't have. It was no other but the girl who had wanted to erase all other relationships and kisses just so Hunter would be her first kiss. And her 'honey' was none other than Hunter himself.
Hunter looked like any other day. Calm, collected and with his usual grin hanging on his lips with no worries. The girl caught up with him and grabbed his hand with ease.
Mavis didn't look away although her plan had been to hide her face from Hunter forever.
"Damn!" Kira commented just as surprised as Mavis, "She really is fast!"
Mavis looked in front again not in the mood to stare at the new couple anymore.
Did he really get a new girlfriend just hours after he had kissed her?
You kissed him, you idiot! For all you know he might have already been in a relationship with her!
That didn't make Mavis feel any better. Shame had been replaced with dread and her stomach didn't feel so well.
