"Hey there, pretty lady," Hunter said in a low, calming voice as he reached Mavis' friend. "I couldn't help but notice you from across the floor."

Mavis thought that would never work on Lillian. She was girly and all but she would never fall for cheap pick up lines or guys like Hunter. Especially Hunter, which Lillian knew a lot about.

"Oh, hey there Hunter. I didn't see you coming." Lillian replied nicely as she threw him a smile.

Once Lillian's eyes moved away from the dazzling smile Hunter was giving her, she noticed a running Mavis right behind the both of them, slowed down by the many bags of shopping she had with her.

"Lily...don't talk to him," Mavis managed to say once she reached them. "He is trying to trick you into liking him!"

Lily arched her right eyebrow perfectly, looking between the two of them. Mavis knew very well what she was looking at; the poster boy and the red mess.

"Well, Hunter we all know what a player you are, so no. Sorry." Lily said as she tried to distance herself from the other two's problems to no avail.

"One hour," Hunter exclaimed. "Just give us one hour, you can have the loser with you the whole time if you like, and I promise by the end of it you will see how serious my intentions are!"

Mavis almost believed him herself, and annoyance threatened to surface within her. He sounded so genuine only someone who knew him very well would be able to tell the truth.

"Right, and pigs fly!" Mavis exclaimed as she glared at Hunter who glared right back at her.

"Okay," the soft voice of Lily interrupted them both, who snapped their necks around as if they were doing synchronized dancing.

Mavis looked at the small blush covering Lily's beautiful face and her jaw fell open.

"Lily?! You know he is a jerk!" she exclaimed. "Why would you even go for him?!"

"I'm not saying I'm going for him," Lily rushed to explain, immediately going to her friend's side. "But he is being nice, and an hour is easily wasted anyways."

Mavis glared at her friend without pity.

"I just called you the other morning to tell you how I didn't have sleep for a long time because of the stupid..."

"That was your fault," Hunter intervened,"You could have just gone with the game and I wouldn't have done anything to you!"

"Come on Mavis, it's just one hour!" Lily begged her, pulling her hand with her soft hands, and Mavis found herself nodding at her resentfully because she couldn't say no to her puppy eyes.

Lillian had been the only friend Mavis had had since middle school. Somehow, she found interest in the wild-haired girl, at the front of the class who was always bossy and always picking up fights. On the other side, Lily was the definition of the sweet girl. Her hair was the color of melted chocolate mixed with enough milk to make it smooth and beautiful. Her eyes were almost the same color, and they were always soft, shiny and hopefully. So much so, that Mavis had never denied her friend anything no matter how much she disagreed with many of Lily's choices.

Her petite figure, her smooth skin, and her sweet face were some of the many reasons why guys always found themselves around Lily.

And the way Lily squealed when Mavis said yes, made even Hunter look her way and admire how great she was.

Keeping the annoyance to herself, Mavis followed two very excited people from her life that she never wanted mixed. As to prove even further Hunter didn't think much, he took them to the shopping center's Starbucks.
