That moment when you tell your self to wait before writing another chapter yet you do and you can't help but upload. :')
Mavis never knew she needed the break she was getting. She was sleeping a little better and she had no need to worry about classes, people or Hunter. In the mornings she would sleep in, wake up late and then she could lounge around until Cole got free. After that Cole would show her around the city or the campus. He also made her meet his friends and attend some of his classes just so that Mavis could get an idea of how college was.
It was really nice.
On the third day of her staying over at his campus, they were playing card games in her room with Cole and some of his friends. Even though his friends were all older than her by just one or two years, it felt like they were more mature than the people she hung out in her high school.
When they were done with the game and Cole's friends were about to leave her phone rang.
"Who is it?" Cole asked.
"Mrs. Jensen," Mavis replied just as surprised as her brother. "Maybe she doesn't know yet that I'm not home. She never calls unless if it is to ask me something."
But she still took the call.
"Hi Mrs. Jensen, how are you?" she greeted her.
"Hey, Mavis. I'm fine how about you? You left so all of the sudden. Is everything okay?"
Mavis' eyebrows shot up.
"Yeah, I'm okay. It was just a last moment decision that's all."
"Oh, okay, I'm glad."
It seemed like Mrs. Jensen was about to close the call until Mavis heard some muffled voice on the other side and heard Mrs. Jensen curse slowly.
"Is everything okay Mrs. Jensen?!" Mavis asked worriedly.
"Everything is fine don't worry about it. So, when will you be back?!" the woman asked.
"By the end of the week most probably, I'll come back with Cole. Do you need me for anything?" Mavis tried again.
"No, I'm just curious that's all. I hope you are doing okay."
Before Mavis could finish up the call, one of Cole's friends called her out.
"Mavis I'm leaving. I'll see you around later okay?"
He was one of Cole's cute friends who also was quite sweet to her.
"See you later Mike!" she greeted him back happily.
"Oh shut it!" Mrs. Jensen whispered-yelled annoyed.
"Huh, sorry?!" Mavis was really confused with Mrs. Jensen's behavior.
"Oh sorry, darling, just that my husband doesn't know when to turn the TV down. Who was the cute boy I just heard? I thought you went just to meet your brother?"
Mavis rolled her eyes. Mrs. Jensen would not pass down the opportunity to ask Mavis about guys ever.
"One of Cole's friends from college."
"Just Cole's friend?" she insisted.
At that moment Cole, having said goodbye to his friends approached her and asked for her phone.
"Hi Mrs. Jensen, how are you doing?"
Mavis could barely hear the other side of the phone because Cole walked a bit away from her.
"You little piece of..." Cole stopped himself in time but he seemed pretty annoyed. "Yeah right. Go f*ck yourself."
Cole closed the phone and gave it to Mavis as if he hadn't just sworn to Mrs. Jensen. Mavis looked at him dumbfounded.
