The first time Mavis Mine had ever been to the school supplies section in any store was when she was just 7 years old and ready to enter first grade. It was the first and last time her mom had taken her and Cole to go school shopping and it had been one of the most amazing experiences that Mavis saved close to her heart.

Mavis's mom loved the school supplies from the very pink pencils to the small, heart shaped notes she used to stick all over the house to leave them something to read. It was one of the rare memories Mavis had of her mom, so every time she entered that section, she could see again the glint of her mom's blue eyes as she looked all over the place for some cool new design or just her favorite, red splashed pencil case.

"Are you really going to buy that case?" Mavis heard Hunter's whisper behind her while she still kept her eyes on the red splashed pencil case. "I think your family has a lot of red already, and you probably don't even need that."

Mavis ignored him and put the pencil case inside her basket already filled with notebooks, pencils and lots of pens. She hated that from the moment that Mrs. Jensen started living in her neighborhood, she kept making her, Cole and Justin go with her and Hunter in what she called 'back to school spending spree'. She hated it because Mrs. Jensen saw school supplies as just money to spend and supplies to earn even more money.

Not to mention how she couldn't even stand Hunter anymore since Saturday morning, or Friday night. That day had been quite a blur to her since she had had to stay the whole night up to fix her room and reverse the damage Hunter had so heartlessly thrown her way. On the other side, Hunter pretended like nothing ever happened.

"I think the green notebooks are much better in color than black ones. Your basket is almost a rainbow and now you add black notebooks to it?!"

"Don't you have anything to buy Hunter?!"

"Not really, mum does that for me. I don't care what I use for as long as I do what I intend to do." Hunter got himself busy looking at some wired notebooks next to her. "It's not fun at all coming here, and Cole is not here too to make time better so I have no choice but to annoy you."

Mavis rolled her eyes and moved along to see any new notebook designs where placed in the shelves this year. She knew all the notebook designs by heart and she could easily say if one was new or had been there at the shelves some time before.

"Why don't you like green?" Hunter tried again.

"Cause I'm a redhead." She replied.

"Exactly! Aren't redheads supposed to like green everything because their hair looks better and stuff?!"

"Not really. I don't have green eyes, I have blue eyes and just because I have red hair doesn't mean I have to like green."

"Bullshit!" Hunter followed her along the other shelf as he studied her like he studied the chemistry experiments at school when he couldn't understand them very well. "Even your freckles disagree."

"What?!"

"What?!"

"How do my freckles enter this conversation?!" Mavis turned to her right and stared at Hunter, weirded out as he stood in front of her still leaning on the shelf. Only in the past two hours she had to spend with him she had seen him leaning everywhere like he couldn't keep himself up without a bit of help. The only flaw she had discovered on him today was that he was almost as short as Mavis was and she could easily maintain eye contact with him without having to hurt her neck like she did with Cole.

"It has no connection that's the point, just like you disliking green cause it is related to redheads." He grinned at her.

"Have you even counted how many times you have said redhead today by the way?"
