"He did this didn't he?!"
Mavis pushed his hand away and let her hair cover her face as much as it was possible. It wasn't like she didn't want to tell them the truth. She was ashamed of the truth. She was ashamed of how this had turned out and she knew what both Cole and Hunter would say:
'You were the one who had a crush on him anyway. This is your fault.'
So why did she have to share anything with them if they were not going to be of any help?
"What happened?!" Cole asked.
"Nothing." she replied, "It's just something I can handle very well on my own. You shouldn't be following me anyway."
Cole gave her the meanest of glares he had ever reserved for her. For the first time, she felt like he was actually frightening for once.
"Mavis?" Cole repeated, his voice going down a notch.
"Cole?" she replied without a problem.
"Hunter?"
Mavis and Cole both turned their heads toward Hunter in disbelief.
"Why did you call out your name?' Mavis asked him.
"Well, were you going to call my name out?! No right. Not enough people. So I did my self a favor." Hunter shrugged it off, a visible grin dancing on his lips.
"She better not call your name..." Cole murmured and right on cue, Mavis hit him on his shoulder.
The nerve they had to make dirty jokes out of everything. And now they were both laughing as if they hadn't seen anything just moments ago.
"Come on Mavis. I won't tell dad or something." Cole insisted, this time his voice calmer and sweeter as if he was trying to appeal to her kind side.
"We won't even make fun of you if that helps," Hunter added for him.
And they didn't need to try harder than that. Mavis really wanted someone just to talk to and even though she knew she would probably regret this she told them anyway.
"For fuck's sake. Is this idiot a lunatic or what?!" Cole exclaimed loudly attracting some nasty looks his way.
"Keep your voice down will ya. And yeah. He is quite the lunatic, but if I can find out who was the one that reported him then I can end this quickly and with no trouble."
"Tell that to your neck!" Cole growled.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Hunter spoke this time and he looked as if he was about to throw up.
"What?!" Cole asked him as Mavis' eyes locked on him too. Did he know who had done it or was he just changing the topic for no reason?
"Well, it's kind of coincidental that nothing was going on until this weekend. And we both know what happened this Friday that could have triggered someone off. "
Mavis gave him a dumb look.
"Hello?! You confessed in front of your stupid ex-best friend that you were in love with me this whole time and that you just broke me and her up because you were jealous?!"
"Hey! I did not confess anything," she exclaimed her face immediately turning red, then she added as quickly, "Nor have I been in love with you all this time. Or any time. I've never been in love with you! As a matter of fact..."
But it was as if she was talking to a wall because Hunter kept giving her a creepy 'come on, you don't need to deny it' look while Cole just looked the other way as if he too didn't believe her. Wasn't Cole supposed to start a fight with Hunter and tell him to lay off of his little sister even if he wasn't interested in her?!
