Jon's POV:
I didn't move. I just watched the poor man in front of me as he lay broken on the floor. What could I do? Every time he gets close to recovering something like this comes around the corner. It's like a cycle of emotional pain. With no clear thoughts I simply ran to the phone and called his parents. They raised him so they should know what to do right?
"Hello?"
"Ah! How's the day going without the twins?"
"Bad. Lin's been an emotional wreck."
"¿Que paso?" What happened?
"Well he's been struggling all day and locked himself in the study, I heard him crying so I started trying to get in. Eventually he opened the door and I saw him sobbing uncontrollably."
"Why was he crying?"
"H-He found Stacy's wedding vows. And since their wedding would've been today, it pretty much destroyed him."
"Where is he now?"
"Sobbing on the floor of the study at no sign of stopping."
"We're coming over. Make sure he doesn't move anywhere."
I agreed and ended the call, turning to see Lin where he was before, his tears beginning to form a puddle on the tiles. This man I've known since 2007 who has been trying all his life to make others happy and now, when he's upset, he needs others to restore him but some still think it's alright to give him hate. I sighed watching as the paper began to get soggy in his tear-soaked hands but decided to not try removing it from a grasp that firm. It was as if he were holding on to his heart, so once he let go he lost all will to live. Luckily the parents only lived a few minutes away and they knocked on the door close to immediately. Hearing Lin's sobs they simply put both twins in my arms rushing to their son muttering Spanglish words of comfort trying to calm him down. Both Ariella and Isaac stared at me as I took them upstairs to the guest room,
"So this will be your room!"
They looked at me blankly as I sighed.
"Tell you what. Your daddy's bought you lots of toys and fun stuff so why don't you go explore huh? I'll be right here."
I gently placed them on the floor next to the first box of toys which were, in Lin's words, 'for when they try to bite everything'. Pretty much at that stage right? I watched Isaac play with a car while Ariella was preoccupied with her teddy bear, it was a miracle they survived after the crash yet somehow I'm not surprised and I don't seem to know why. I mean, Stacy was always a fighter so it seems when Stacy lost all her fight her body still continued without her. Yeesh, I dunno. I thought as I wiped my eyes to hide the tears threatening to fall. I jumped hearing a small voice behind me.
"You really are like a brother to me Jon."
Grinning widely I attacked Lin in a bear hug as he laughed hugging me just as tight.
"Lin! You're okay!"
"I think I am... Yup, definitely okay!"
I hugged him tightly again smiling,
"What did your parents do to get you like this?"
"Eh parent magic, somehow it stays as the kids grow up."
We both laughed as Lin crouched down to play with the kids making car sound effects while whooshing the car around the air, his parents joined us shortly smiling when they saw their son as he was before. The happy side of Lin.
"H-How did you get him?"
"Happy? When you're a parent you always find one thing that will cheer your child up no matter what. And that one thing somehow stays with them all through their life."
"Well, what is it?"
"Not telling. Parent magic."
Exactly what Lin said. I couldn't help smiling seeing the wonders of the Miranda family and lay down on my side to play with Ariella's teddy bear. Lin took a side-smile at me as we both played with the children occasionally making the teddy go in the car while me and Lin worked together with our sound effects. After a while we both left them to entertain themselves and Lin muttered quietly,
"Can't wait for the train phase."
"What? Why?"
"I can do some train beat boxing."
We both broke into a fit of laughter while walking downstairs. It was time for dinner and sadly no-one had cooked.
"Take-away night!"
"Yeah! We can split the bill-"
"-The meals on me for being such a burden."
"You were not!"
Lin responded with his resting bitch face as I smiled.
"Okay you might of been, but you had good reason!"
"I shut myself in the study, didn't clean up after myself and blamed everything on myself being a complete sob story."
I shrugged and hugged him again as he laughed.
"You're hugging me a lot more than often today."
"It's cause the old Lin is back!"
I did a little celebratory dance as did Lin and we drove off to the nearest take-away.
"Chinese, Indian or Japanese?"
"Chinese. Please."
He laughed parking the car and ordering a huge buffet of everything.
"Bit much Lin?"
"We have a fridge, we have a freezer."
"Touché."
"Wait."
"LIN!"
"WHAT?"
He began to panic, his eyes getting wider as I smiled.
"The old Lin is back for sure."
He lightly swatted me across the cheek and I laughed.
"But what I was going to say was this will be Ariella and Isaac's first time seeing a Chinese!"
He thought for a moment before asking the till lady:
"Do you have Chinese baby food?"
The lady laughed shaking her head.
"Worth a try."
We drove our meal to the house, the total buffet taking up all of the back of the car meaning I sat in the front.
"Mmmm hot seat..."
In response Lin turned the air conditioner on making the car freezing almost immediately.
"LIN!"
He burst out laughing pulling into the driveway locking all the doors except his before leaving. Huh. I tried my door and, seeing Lin laughing from outside the window, I knew it was locked. In the end after seeing me over exaggerating my annoyance he unlocked the car sticking his tongue out in response to my middle finger. Lin's back bitches.AN: Took a while I know ._.
