Lin's POV:
"Morning."
I woke up to my mother's warm face smiling down at me. It's been a whole night in hospital and I already hate it. And what's more I cannot get a hold of Jon. I've called him many times but he's ignoring me. I hate guilt. One of my least favourite feelings.
"Um Mr and Mrs Miranda?"
"Yes?"
"This way please."
I watched my parents leave the room as I simply lay there staring at the white light. It hurt my eyes but I welcomed it.
"Good news. You can go home sir."
I heavily exhaled a sigh of relief, rather too loudly as I watched the nurse roll her eyes. Perhaps I was a little rude then. My parents walked in with my stuff and a change of clothes which I happily changed into, hospital gowns are not a good look on anyone. After lots of forms we finally got out and immediately I asked whether I could go round Jon's.
"Lin, it's 10pm. He'll probably be asleep after what's happened. It's exhausting."
I reluctantly nodded as we went back to my parents' home instead. Just before I fell asleep I gave one last attempt in getting through to Jon but, as suspected, he didn't pick up enabling me to feel worse about what happened.
"Morning!"
"Mum it's so early!"
"Esta bien."
I groaned getting dressed and went downstairs for breakfast. There were good points and bad points of staying at my parents'. Early mornings but great breakfasts. After eating I brushed my teeth then set off for Jon's apartment.
"Hello?"
I knocked on the door for the third time hearing rushing to and fro inside.Jon's POV:
"Hello?"
Three sharp knocks followed as I recognised Lin's voice.
"Shit!"
I pushed Andrew off of me and told him to hide in the cupboard as I found my clothes scattered across the room. I was really sore but that could be dealt with later. I rushed to the door.
"Lin?"
"Uh... hi. Can I come in?"
I gestured inside as he followed then closed the door behind him.
"Listen, I'm sorry about earlier. I was a complete douche and you didn't deserve it. I'm really happy for you two."
A clash of hangers sounded above us.
"What was that?"
"Probably a hanger falling. You woke me up so I may of disheveled my entire wardrobe."
I laughed nervously as Lin pushed past me and went upstairs. There's no use lying to Lin. I meekly followed him as he scavenged through each bedroom until he got to the wardrobe.
"Wonder who's in here?"
I gulped as the wardrobe opened and Andrew gave me a sorry glance.
"Didn't think you were the type to sleep around Jon."
"I -"
"- Why don't you go check your phone eh?"
I obliged going to my phone and seeing all of Lin's missed calls throughout the night and this morning. No wonder he was pissed.
"Lin."
"Save it."
I didn't know what to do. Neither did Lin to be honest but he was fuming anyway. I warily watched him as he paced to and fro occasionally cursing at himself for letting this happen. There was a coldness about his eyes, the sparkle had gone. This was the Lin no one sees and I didn't want to see it at all.
"Hey um Lin? I'm sorry you had to -"
"- Go home Andrew."
Andy left doing as Lin said and it was just me and Miranda. It didn't take long before he spoke up.
"What the fuck Jon?"
I gulped under his piercing glare.
"One thing led to another and -"
"And you fucked him because we had an argument? You used him. And he doesn't even know."
He let out a fake laugh as if he was the stupid one to not see it happening. I couldn't help but feel defensive as I then said the words I will regret.
"Maybe we actually love each other? You know Lin? Like you and Stacy? But I'm not going to make those stupid mistakes you made. No. We're going to be a lovely happy family with -"
I recoiled as Lin slapped me across the face leaving a red mark. I looked back at him with tears in my eyes, my hand covering the red area. His face changed as he stumbled backward looking at his hand like it wasn't his. He looked weak, vulnerable, but mainly just scared.
"J-Jon?"
I raised a hand to quiet him and got up silently.
"A-Are you okay?"
I simply left without saying a word. Never had I ever imagined Lin would be able to hurt someone. He wasn't the type to do such a thing. He was so optimistic always seeing the best in people. Some change I guess.
"Please Jon. Fuck. I'm so sorry."
"No I'm sorry. It was my fault for calling us friends."
I shut the door behind me, I didn't have the energy to slam it. I wasn't angry, just hurt and I heard Lin fall onto the bed on the other side of the door. I needed to talk to someone. Someone reliable and kind. Someone funny and imaginative. The same personality Lin used to have before he changed. The old Lin. I called 'Prof. Sexy' on my phone as I drove to his house.
"Jon?"
"I'm coming over?"
"You don't know where I live?"
"That's why I called."
He chuckled sadly and told me his address. It took a while to get there and wasn't as close as I'd like it to be but it was an escape. Lin wouldn't find me. I didn't need his apologies right now, he can wait a while to realise his mistake. Time apart. That's what we needed.
"Jon?"
"Sorry. I zoned out. What were you saying?"
"If you really want to, I won't force you. But you could move in? It's early days but -"
"You know Andy?"
"Yes?"
"I might just take you up on that offer."AN: Tension rising! See ya in the next chapter!
