Jon's POV:
It took seven runs to get the whole buffet, I know since Lin made me do the majority of the work.
"Okay I'll get them out of the boot and hand them to you while you take them to the house."
"Yeah sure!"
Sure my ass. He started by handing me the bag with all the drinks in weighing at least ten tonnes. Saying if I drop the bag, my toes will break, and even if the bag doesn't break them, a hungry family most definitely will.
"Won't they be thirsty though?"
"They'll be too hungry to know right from wrong."
I shrugged practically dragging the bag along the patio until Lin stopped me, lifted up the bag and dropped it on my shoulders.
"There you are!"
"Thanks. Much appreciated. I am over the moon."
He laughed going back to the car handing me bag after bag of heavy food. I'm sure he put weights inside some of the bags to catch me out but, surely enough, all food. When we were finished, he skipped, repeat, skipped holding three bags. Three! Skipping! He handed them to me as I realised these were the lightest ones.
"Decided to save them till last."
"Fuck you."
We both then walked into the house, well, I stomped in my annoyance, but he walked so I guess it's fine. When we got to the door both parents were looking at Lin disappointedly.
"Hijo... ¡That wasn't a nice thing to do to your amigo!" Son... & friend later on
"Ugh. Es rigolo y Jon es bien. Muy trabajadoro."  It's funny and Jon's fine. Very hardworking.
Both parents rolled their eyes as Lin began to set out the food on the table, followed by rushing to the kitchen grabbing baby food on the way. After a while we were all sat down and Lin was feeding the kids.
"Lin, I think it would be better if you gave sound effects to the food."
"What?"
"You know... Like here comes the plane and all that!"
He shrugged and proceeded to do his, as promised before, train beat boxing, it was all going extremely well until Isaac decided he'd had enough and spat it out all over Lin's face. I almost spat out my food trying to hold back a laugh. However he still heard my muffled snorting fit and flicked some of the food at me and a scowl quickly took over my facial features. Everyone laughed as we went to get cleared up.
"Lin, how're you gonna do night duty?"
"Oh shit. Forgot about that."
"Lin. You have twins. You forgot about night duty?"
"Well don't you think I've got enough going on?"
He snapped, I immediately felt sorry apologising quickly for my lack of sympathy.
"I-I'm sorry it's fine. I didn't mean to be so rude it's just. It's almost as if she's right here, you know, like she's watching my every move and supporting me. Like after my parents came in. I told you it was parent magic and that but I was just the same when they left as when they entered. It's because I felt her near me. I felt a hand on my shoulder lifting me up, you probably think I'm going mental. I don't blame you since we know I am but, I just needed to get it off my chest."
He quickly walked away running a hand through his hair then shoving both of them in his pockets. I simply stood there, stunned. I didn't know what Lin meant. I mean, it's crazy but it's helping him get better. Maybe it's just a part of the mourning process? After a few minutes I left to go back to the table plastering on a fake smile and getting another plate of noodles. Anyone could tell we were starting to get full but, to quote Lin: 'We have a fridge, we have a freezer.' As I smiled at the memory I looked up at him, he however looked past me, unfazed about our interaction just a few minutes ago. By his body language I could tell he wanted to keep it quiet so I obliged finishing my meal.
"I think that's all then! We bid you farewell and goodnight."
Both me and Lin nodded following his parents to the door and waving them goodbye. As soon as the door shut Lin walked away muttering as he went past:
"What I said remains a secret. I don't want anyone else thinking I'm mental."
I nodded turning to see the back of Lin's head as he closed the door of the study locking it behind him.
"No. No! Open the door! Lin! Open the door!"
I heard him heavily exhale unclicking the lock letting me ever so calmly barge in.
"Out."
"Jon. It's my study."
"It's your funeral. Out."
He stormed off as I shouted behind him.
"Bond with the kids!"
He was out of sight quickly so I entered the infamous study to see what Lin's been working on all this time:

I watch as she lights up surrounding air,
Image of my uttermost affection,
Her light smooth walk showing caution and care,
A shining object of true perfection.
Bright light follows her wherever she goes,
But no light can shape the resounding tears,
Instead of light a darkness overthrows,
The mourning of the beauty in her years.
I am given one look and she is gone,
A beauty in her wake beauty in rest,
The bright twinkle in her eyes that had shone,
Replaced by darkness - no pulse in her chest.
I watch her coffin lowering to her tomb,
An moment long gone - I won't be her groom.

"Get out."
I turned to see a sobbing Lin in the doorway.
"I said get out!"
"L-Lin... I-"
"Don't bother. Just leave."
I nodded, head down, and took my bags leaving through the front door. He didn't wave goodbye but as I turned back he simply nodded from the window in the study. I nodded back and drove home.

AN: I wrote that sonnet two years before this book and was shocked when I saw how it fitted perfectly. Anyway see ya in the next chapter!
