Clint had been taken to the medical wing of the tower and Bruce personally administered his recovery. He was put on sedatives for the night. You obviously had to explain everything to everyone, earning you a hard punch from Natasha. Bruce had defended you by stating the clear fact that he found dangerously high amounts of alcohol in Clint's bloodstream. And despite her trying to get you out, you stayed outside the door to the room Barton was in. Natasha had fallen asleep on the couch and everyone else had gone back to their rooms. Bruce was asleep next to Natasha.

Around 4 AM, you heard a groan and a bit of shuffling from the room and you immediately sat up, peeking in through the little glass window on the door. Clint was waking up. You opened the door and walked in, "Hey Clint, you okay?" You put your hand on top of Clint's. You had been feeling nothing but guilty for what had happened to Clint. You didn't really hate Clint, but you had really written a lot of things in the journal that you had rather wanted Clint to know gradually. It will take you time to adjust with the feeling of this insecurity knowing Clint can almost see through you now like a foggy glass. You obviously missed some things in the journal, but what it had was enough.

Clint's eyes shot open and he looked at you with remorse, "I-I'm sorry Y/N. I really-" you cut Clint off mid sentence with a kiss on his cheek.

"It's fine, Clint. It really is." You smiled and pecked his lips. Clint had melted into the kiss too much to even speak. "I loved the book. Thank you so much." You nuzzled his neck and laid down next to him on the bed. Clint put his arm around you carefully trying not to knock off the tubes connected to his cannula.

"Water." Clint spoke and you sat up, getting the glass of water and helping him drink. He drank the water and you put the glass back down. "What happened to your face?" Clint asked, looking at the mildly bruised jawline.

You chuckled, "Let's just say you have a very protective friend." You said.

But Clint took it seriously, "I'm sorry." He whispered.

"Oh no, It's completely fine. Honestly, if I was in her place I don't think I would have reacted any differently." You smiled and kissed his cheek again.

"How long was I out anyway?" Clint asked you.

"Around 8 hours, I think. But mostly because Bruce gave you some sedatives, despite the fact that you were already way too drunk to even handle yourself." You gave him a look and he looked down.

"I don't drink that much often, I swear. It was just-"

"It's fine. As long as you know it wasn't good." You smiled and kissed his cheek once more.

"It can be toxic, you know." Clint smiled at you.

You gave him a confused look, "What can?"

"The medicine on the cut on my cheek that you find so delicious." He said you turned red.

"I wasn't tasting the medicine." You lied. The medicine had a characteristic sweet taste, well not exactly sweet but you had found it rather addictive. "I was just expressing how much I care about you." You mumbled.

Clint chuckled and kissed your lips, "Of course." He spoke into the kiss. You hadn't slept the night so you fell asleep right next to him and he held you close, putting you under the sheets with him.

When you woke up, you were the only one on the bed. You sat up to see Clint putting on his t shirt. "Ready to head back, sleeping beauty?" He chuckled. "Bruce said I should be fine by myself now, was only a bit of blood loss." He grinned.
