"Y/N no! Stop!" Steve yelled but you were beyond the control of your conscience."Y/N, there are civilians on board. You need to stop." Tony said through the transistor in your ear. His tone was much calmer but everybody on the lie could hear the distress, except you of course.
You had come on your first major field assignment with the Avengers and everything had been going well until the "mighty" Avengers didn't have the upper hand anymore. They were starting to lose the battle, so you chose to lose control instead when the threat came over Clint's life. You just couldn't afford to lose Clint. You had to take your decision in a matter of seconds and your in that very moment, Steve saw a glint of the familiar dark emptiness in your eyes that he had seen the night you two fought.
"Code green." Steve said to the transistor, pressing the button which connected him to the SHIELD headquarters.
"What?! No!" Clint yelled, very well understanding what was to come next. And within minutes, the Hulk was on field.

"Y/N?" You heard Clint's voice as you came to, groaning as every single part of your body hurt. You opened your eyes to look at him. You tried to move but couldn't, and that's when you both felt and saw the restrains on your wrists and feet. You realised you were currently in SHIELD's medical facility as you took in the surroundings.
"W-What happened?" You asked, wincing as the lip movement hurt. Definitely a split lip, you derived. Clint's look told you something was adversely wrong. "Clint?"
"Y/N..."
"The truth, please." You spoke again, now seeming at ease with the movement as you got used to the pain. Not that you weren't familiar to it.
Clint sighed. Knowing very well you wouldn't let it go, he told you everything from how Clint was almost killed to how you lost control of your powers and released a havoc over the city. And ultimately, he told you about how you managed to get The Hulk down on his knees and into a comma.
"They're considering to take you out, Y/N." Clint spoke again after an almost deafening session of silence that entailed Clint's story telling. "I talked to Fury. He knows you, he's speaking in your favour." He said but gulped. "But Natasha... and Steve." He mumbled. "I don't know what they'll do to you even if you do manage to not get kicked out." He said, and you could feel the fright dripping from his words. His hand was closer to yours so you were able to hold his hand through the restrains.
"I'm sorry, Clint." You said. Somehow, you just couldn't feel anything. Yes, you felt guilty for getting Bruce to where he was now as well as for the people whose lives you out in jeopardy.
It was almost like history was repeating itself. You got people hurt, you wake up to restrains and in wait for a jury to sentence you to what you deserve. Everything was way too similar to what happened in Knysma when you accidentally set loose fire on people of the town in western capes of South Africa. You partially hoped that it would be a dream, that you would wake up to the loving hands of Clint that somehow seemed to be afraid to touch you now. He didn't show it, nor did it seem like he accepted it himself. Whatever he saw must have been really mad, and you understood far too well.
You left the thought alone when the door to your room opened and you saw Tony walk in. His right arm was fractured and you couldn't help but wonder if you were accountable for this too. "Y/N!" He smiled. But alas, you were a little too accustomed to the billionaire's ways by now. You didn't have to think twice to realise it was a forced smile indeed that shone bright on his battered face. "How are you?" He asked.
