You were woken up in the middle of the night by a phone call. Steve was a lighter sleeper than you were so he was awoken as well. You immediately sat up and picked up the call. It was from an unknown number.
"Hello?" You croaked, trying to get your eyes to open completely.
"Um, is this Y/N L/N?"
"Speaking. Who's this?"
"I'm calling from the PJ's Cocktail Lounge. Your friend, um, I think his name is Clint Barton. He's really drunk and seems to be all by himself. Could you come to pick him up?" The man asked. You gave Steve a look who was sitting right next to you now, trying to listen in to the conversation.
"Uh yeah, sure. Is he okay?" You asked.
"Well, he did get into a fight but he's fine. He should probably expect a law suit soon though."
You took a deep breath and sighed, "Right. We'll be there. Where is this, again?"
"Harlem."
"Okay, right. I'll be there." You said and cut the call. You took a deep breath before telling Steve what really happened, "It's Clint. He got drunk and apparently fought someone rich enough to be able to hire a lawyer."
Steve clenched his jaw but he stood up. "Okay." Was all he said before he went to grab his jacket.
"I mean, if you don't want to do this... I could probably have Tony get him." You said awkwardly as you stood up to get to your shoes.
"I'm fine, Y/N. He's my teammate and I'm the leader. We should go help him." He said. It was true. After all that has happened between him and Clint, he still cared for the man as a fellow teammate. Steve would still go to hell and back if Clint was in trouble.
You put on your shoes before grabbing your jacket and car keys. Steve followed you to the level parking and took shotgun as you pulled the car into the street.
"Hey, Steve?" You spoke a few minutes into the drive.
"Hmm?" Steve hummed, his face still towards his window as he stared outside nonchalantly.
"When was the last time we went to a club and got drunk?"
That made Steve look towards you. He gawked for a couple of seconds before answering with a tilt of his head, "I never did. Although, you got really drunk when we went to your friend's birthday party to that club."
You sighed and kept your eyes on the road as you drove. "It was ten years ago." You mumbled.
"What? No, it wasn't that long." He said but you merely shook your head. Steve frowned at your response, "Wat are you trying to say, Y/N?"
"Nothing... We've just changed a lot."
"Why are you bringing this up now?" Steve challenged which made you look at him before quickly locking your eyes on the road.
"I didn't mean it that way, I'm sorry." You said when it all hit you. With the current situation with Clint, it already must be exhaustive and mentally demanding enough for Steve.
