"We know you're here, Y/N!" You gulped as you heard the voice from afar. It was unknown but it frightened you to the core. You might've perhaps not believed when Steve had said the council of SHIELD was dangerous but it all came into picture when you saw the Avenger's tower go down. Yep, you read it right. The tower is down and the current whereabouts of the avengers seem to be unknown. How do you know all of this? Well, you seemingly managed to hack into the SHIELD servers. As amazingly intimidating the council already was, they had managed to change the software and programming to all of their systems in just that much amount of time. Once in, you had tried to look for Jarvis or any hint of Stark's technologies but he was apparently kicked out of the systems very brutally.
Did hacking into their systems do any good to you though? The answer to that highly depends on whether you consider being tracked and hunted with weapons specially designed to tackle your powers good, then yes. It did you a lot of good. Probably too good than you could handle.
You tried to even your breaths as you hid behind a fallen log. Ever almost died in the tropical rainforests of Australia? Check. You looked around to consider your options of possible survival in the area but your "hunters" were closing in pretty quick. You couldn't fly, there were drones everywhere. You couldn't mend their weapons, telekinetic barriers everywhere. You couldn't do nothing.
"Stand up." You heard the words and closed your eyes by instinct. If you were to mention a time in your life when you were panicked to such an exist that you'd honestly literally actually seriously hoped you'd die, this was it. "I said stand up!" She yelled. It was clear now. You didn't have to open your eyes to notice the hundreds of men and women, if not more, that surrounded you.
You wished you had stood up when you were asked to because you certainly didn't like the bang you heard next. You didn't feel any pain in the beginning. You wanted to open your eyes and stand up to surrender because you knew that you wouldn't live any other way. But you couldn't. You were frozen to the spot out of fright and anxiety. You were probably shaking and mumbling things, maybe even pulling on your hair if you remembered your attacks well. But your mind felt so numb. Everything seemed unfathomable until the pain started to rush in.
Your hand finally moved to the source of the pain. Your shoulder. You soon realised that it wasn't just a bullet. The pain was starting to numb out. A very bad feeling. You were very familiar with toxins and venoms from your training and this was definitely a neurotoxin.
"Y/N? Y/N, it's fine. Open your eyes!" You heard a familiar voice this time, bringing you back to reality as an even more familiar pair of hands shook you. You opened your eyes and there he was. Clint fucking Barton. The love of your life, the muse to your- wait what?
"Clint?" You spoke but your voice came out drowsier than you had intended it to be. What was going on?
"Alright, the area's clear. Stark, mark the perimeter. Banner, go help Barton and..." You heard Steve's authoritative voice die out as his foot steps receded.
"We need to get him out of here, doc." Clint said, having never taken his eyes off you as Bruce came to check on you.
"Quickly." He said. "He doesn't have much time." Bruce said and you could hear the rush in his voice. How fucked did you really have to be for him to panic?
Clint took your arm over him and helped you stand. You immediately wished you hadn't. There was blood everywhere. Bodies mutilated. Trees were uprooted and you could see large holes in the ground. "Did... did I..."
