Everything was running smoothly at the farm, and we hadn't suffered any fatalities since Otis. ( got bit while out on a run. ) Being 15 in an apocalypse is so hard, but luckily I had Carl, so I wasn't going through it alone. I walked out onto the porch and found Carl seated in a rocking chair.
" Hey cutie." I flirted while approaching Carl and taking a seat next to him. " watch ya up to?"
" Noth'n. Watch'n."
" watching what?"
" The barn."
" Why the barn? Sounds pretty boring"
" Well, take a look. Something is banging against those walls. but it's repetitive, so something or someone must be trying to escape. You know what? I'm gonna go check it out." He loaded his gun.
" Good idea. I'll come."
" No way! are you crazy? we don't know who's in there! could be a murderer!"
"'Or it could be a cow,"
" but the point is we don't know, so you stay hear." He began to walk away, gun in hand.
" Sure, like that's gonna happen." I quickly loaded and followed. He knew i would still come no matter what he said, so he didn't try to make me leave.
" We'll need to go through the back and up onto the lift, then look down. You got a flashlight?"
" You don't?"
" Out of battery"
" Uhh!" I tossed him my flashlight. I began climbing in first, but then he stopped me.
" We don't know what's in there. I go first, you follow me." He flicked on the flashlight and we filed in. Every now and then he'd whisper my name.
" Thee?" He whispered.
" FOR THE FIFTH TIME WHAT!!!!!"
" Just making sure." I rolled my eyes and we continued walking. once we got to the top, it was complete darkness other than Carl's thin row if light. " Theodora, you don't move an inch, you understand? I'm gonna scope out the whole area. DO NOT MOVE! You can't see and its dangerous." He began to slowly move away. I will admit, ( and am not ashamed to admit ) that I was truely scared. I inched forward, trying to see if I could maybe catch a glimpse of his figure somehow in the darkness, but then I heard soft moans.
" Carl? Carl, come here." I said quietly, but the moans were getting louder and louder. " Carl?!" I realized that I was still inching forwards, but by the time I had realized, it was too late. I had passed where the rafter ended and was plummeting into...
WALKERS. of coarse it's walkers. how didn't we know?
" CARL!!!!!" I yelled. I felt something grab my arm and something grab my feet. there I was, waiting fir the walkers to sink their teeth into me and ripped me apparent, but it never happens. I ten realized that it was Carl holding my arm! He was fighting a walker for me."
" You're shoe!" He yelled. " You're shoe! kick it off!" I did this and went flying onto Carl. this caused him to fall backwards and we both tumbled down the stairs and out into the daylight. I was holding Carl so tight. I didn't want to let go. My Hero.
" I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" I told him.
" No no, I'm not angry. No need for apologies. your safe now. that is the best thing possible!" I was still on top of him.
" I love you" I quickly got out before planting my lips on his. his lips are so soft. he's such a good kisser. these are my favorite things now; being with Carl, hugging Carl, kissing Carl. I love him so much. and the best part is, I know he loves me too, and just as much.
