Ollie

Six months later

I was home for spring break and everything here was perfect. Jamie was almost a year old and starting to crawl everywhere he went and he was making cute noises that almost sounded like words at times. I missed being here every day but I was glad I was at college because this would affect Jamie sometime in the future.

Holly had been amazing, she had not only been looking after Jamie by also Jake's little girl while he had been working nine until five every day. Holly was proud of him for how he was coping with Carley not being there to raise their baby together. Holly was still holding out for Carley to come back, I knew that Jake was losing hope but he was fighting just for their baby. Every so often Holly would get a call from Carley and Holly would update her on everything that had been happening, each call would end in tears.

I hated seeing Holly cry, it broke my heart each time I saw a tear drop from her eye. But she was still perfect to me. I just needed to tell her that I loved her then everything between us would be perfect too. We hadn’t kissed since the day before I left for college, this had been the longest time that we haven’t kissed and I’m missing her soft lips against mine. I just wanted her for my own.

Surprisingly Josh and I were now good friends, not as good and Jake and I but still good. It took a while for me to trust him because I believe that he had feelings for Holly, but he made it clear he didn’t when he started seeing other girls, it was a big sigh of relief for me. He was more of a player than I ever was which is saying something. I’m so thankful he’d never hooked up with Alyssa because technically she was still my girlfriend and she would become clingy. I so needed to break up with her.

Jamie is the best baby ever, he's got my eyes, and everyone that knows he's mine says so. I love him more every day and that makes me love Holly more and more. Alyssa needs to know Jamie is my son so u can break up with her, it's been going on for over a year and a half, and she still doesn't know Jamie's my son. She still thinks Holly is a slut.

I should tell her…

I love Holly…

I need to tell her…

I needed to end things with Alyssa.

"Dada," I heard from the cot across the room. "Dada." I turned to face Jamie on the floor playing with his toys, he sat looking at me sitting on Holly's bed. "Dada," he said one last time. I’m surprised out of my mind as I realised he's just spoken his first words, I smiled brightly in happiness.

"What should I do little man; I love your mama too much."

"Dada, mama," he giggled. I loved his giggle so much, it made me want to laugh along with him, I loved the way his cheeks ballooned out into cute red circles and his blue eyes lit up.

I understood what he was trying to say. "Does my baby boy want his mommy?" I said lifting Jamie out of his cot.

"Mama," he said again clapping his hands together.

"Come on then." I carried him out of Holly's bedroom and downstairs to the kitchen when Holly was cooking dinner with Olivia. I watched Holly for a minute admiring her beauty, she was so beautiful I could eat her up. "I think someone wants his mommy, doesn't he Jamie?" I said smiling as Holly turned around to face me.

"Mama," Jamie said smiling at Holly. Holly opened her arms wide and lifted Jamie out of my arms. She smiled happily admiring our son. "Dada," he said clutching my finger tightly in his little soft hands.

"Yes dada," I said, kissing him lightly on the nose.

"You two are perfect for each other," Olivia sighed as she looks at us.

"Mama an' dada," Jamie said as he snuggles his head into Holly's smooth neck.

"Yeah mama an' dada," I sighed silently.

“I can’t believe he’s already talking, he’s so young,” Holly smiled.

“I know beautiful, his first word was dada, I was so shocked when he said it, but then I remember what my mum said about me when I was that age, and she told me that I was talking before the age of one like Jamie.”

“He’s so much like you.”

“He’s like you too.”

“Not so much but I love how much he is like you, he reminds me of you when you’re not here.”

“I know, baby.”

She rested her head against my chest as she held Jamie in her arms, I wrapped my arms tightly around them both and breathed in deeply. This what our family should be like every day.

The kitchen went quiet with muffled snores of Jamie. "I'll just put him to bed," Holly whispered. I kissed her cheek as she passed me. She turned back and smiles, "You're a great dad."

Warmth warmed me from the bottom of my heart, it ran through my body. I wanted to tell her how much I loved her, how much Jamie meant to me also. “Wait!” I called out to her grabbing onto her skinny wrist.

Olivia looked between the two of us and left the room leaving us alone together. I leant over a quickly kiss Holly on the forehead her eyes closed as I did so. I smiled at her and Jamie, she was the most beautiful woman in my whole life and she holds my son. "No you're the great mom," I whispered.

"Well I need to put Jamie back to bed but I'll see you tonight," Holly kissed my cheek. I watched as she left the room, Jamie's head resting on her delicate shoulder.

I quickly chased after her. "Holly, I'll take Jamie for the day tomorrow, I want to spend time with him."

"Okay sweetheart, it'll be nice to have the day off from looking after him."

"I'll take him anytime, he is my son too you know."

"I know but I don't like to be apart from him for very long. I trust you to look after him."

"I will, I love him," I said truthfully, I will never love anyone the same I as I love Jamie, I love him unconditionally. "Goodnight my little boy."

After dinner and a late night movie with Holly down in the sitting room we headed up to bed. She changed into her skimpy shorts and t shirt and I into boxers. I headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth, she followed me shortly afterwards. Our eyes connected in the mirror as we brushed, when we had finished we spat into the sink at the same time.

I grabbed her hand and walked us back to bed. I opened the covers for her and she climbed in quickly. I got in on the other side and turned to face her. She smiled at me with a tired look. Her eyes drifted close, so I wrapped my arm around her like usual and pulled her close. I loved the feel of her body against mine. Shortly after I fell asleep too.
