Holly

Anna took Jamie out of Ollie’s arms carefully, I saw Ollie bite is sexy bottom lip as she rested him against her chest, and I knew he didn’t want her to drop her. I went to Ollie and grabbed his hanging hand, I squeezed it lightly before I could drop his hand he held mine tighter in him, he looked down and smiled at me. “Did you have a good day?” I asked him.

“Yeah it was perfect,” he wrapped our clasped hands around my back so I rested against him chest. “I was nice to get out with Jamie and Jake.”

“That’s good,” I sighed.

“Yep it is, I’ve got some news to tell you as well later.”

“Oh right,” I said worriedly.

“Nothing horrible, I promise,” he laughed.

“So, Ollie I heard that you have a girlfriend, how long have you been with her?”

“I don’t have a girlfriend,” I told them all truthfully.

“What!”

“I broke up with her today,” he told us truthfully.

“Oh,” I sighed, truthfully I was happy that he was now free, maybe I would have a chance with him.

Suddenly I heard the doorbell ring as I thought about my chance to be with Ollie as a family. “I’ll get it.”

I hurried downstairs to the front door, no one was in today because they knew Mom was coming they thought it was fair to allow us time to talk on our own. I reached the front door and opened it wide. “Oh hi Dad,” I said shocked when I saw who it was. Dad looked exactly the same as he did three months ago when I saw him last. Over the past six months we’ve seen each other a total of four times, and it’s been great getting to know him.

“Hey Sweetheart, now where’s my little grandson,” he smiled stepping into the house.

“Oh I’ll just go and get him,” I told him, “Why don’t you go into the sitting room and wait.”

“Sure Sweetheart.”

I walked towards the stairs to bring Jamie down to meet Dad and to stop Mom from leaving my room. But as I took my first step up the stairs voices came from above, Mom, Anna, Ollie and Jamie were walking towards me. I turned back to Dad and noticed him stop to look up the stairs; that was the first time he saw Mom in forever.

“Caroline,” he choked out.

Her head whipped towards Dad in a state of shock, “Fred?”

“Caroline, baby, what are you doing here?”

It was kind of weird hearing Dad call Mom ‘baby’ but somehow it worked for them. Dad looked so happy to see her, I could tell that he had missed her and that he still loved her. Mom on the other hand was almost horrified to see Dad standing there at the bottom of the stairs but then I saw the tears leaking from her eyes.

“Fred,” she whispered as she took another step down the stairs, Dad in turn took another one towards her. Soon enough they both reached the bottom of the stairs and less than a foot away from each other. I saw Dad inch closer to her and wrap his strong arms around her tightly. She stood limply in his arms for a second before placing her head against his chest and wrapping her arms around him too.

Ollie joined me where I was standing with Jamie in his arms. “Wow,” he whispered in my ear. “I didn’t know this would happen today.”

“Yeah me neither,” I smiled into his chest.

The silence around us was peaceful until a loud voice broke it, “Okay what’s happening around here?”

Mom and Dad turned to face Anna who by now was half way down the stairs. “She’s mine, isn’t she?” Dad asked Mom to confirm what I told him six months ago.

“Yes,” Mom nodded against him chest. “She’s yours.”

He stepped away from Mom to my sister, “Hey Anna, I’m your father.”

She looked shocked, we’d never really told her anything about him: she didn’t know what he looked like, his name or why he left. “D-d-daddy…” she stammered, I saw the tears well up in her eyes. “You’re my daddy?”

“Yes Sweetheart, I’m your Daddy.”

“Where have you been?”

“Raising money so I could see you again. You are so beautiful Anna. I’ve waited every day of your life to meet you and in all my dreams I never imagined you to be this beautiful. I love you Anna.”

Still not trusting Dad, Anna smiled lightly, “I waited for you too Daddy.”

He then pulled her into a tight hug, I saw that they were both crying so I took Mom’s hand and pulled her towards them. Dad opened his arm up so we could join.

For the first time ever we were a family.

After the tears clear up we headed to the sitting room to talk. Once settled Mom was the first to speak, “So Fred how did you know Holly was here?”

He looked quickly up at me before turning to her, “Um…well…six months ago Holly went to visit Ollie at college however neither of them knew that I was Ollie’s football coach, so it was kind of a shock when we realised. I got to meet Jamie too, I was so happy to find out that I had a grandson, I thought that it would give me a second chance to do things right. Over the past six months Holly and I have met up a couple of times just so I could see Jamie.”

“So you knew about Jamie before me?” Mom complained.

“Yeah I did and I told Holly to tell you.”

Mom scowled at me, “Sorry Mom, I wasn’t ready yet.”

She sighed knowing that I still needed time to adjust to motherhood, “Its fine Holly, I know now and that’s what’s important.”

“Love you Mom.”

“Love you too.”

After the hectic afternoon with my parents all I wanted to do was sleep. I was exhausted from the nerves this morning, worrying about my parent’s relationship and looking after Jamie on top of it all. Ollie had been a star today and I couldn’t thank him enough for what he had done, I appreciated his support.

“Hey, I’m heading to bed,” I told everyone. “I’m done for today.”

“Okay baby, I’ll bring Jamie up in a little while,” Ollie told me kissing my forehead. I waved goodbye to my parents and sister before heading up the stairs.

I took a steamy shower and washed my hair with my favourite vanilla shampoo. I felt my body relax after it. I changed into my favourite pyjama shorts and tank top. I climbed in my cool bed and settled against the soft pillows. It felt like heaven. My eyes closed and I sighed against the pillows.

A little while later my eyes fluttered open as I heard rustling coming from the other side of the room. I tilted my head to see Ollie settle Jamie into his bed. Ollie then leaned down and kissed Jamie. “I love you, Jamie,” he whispered to him.

Ollie undressed down to his boxers and climbed into bed behind me. I pretended to be asleep when he snuggled up behind me and wrapped his strong arm around. He kissed the back of my neck softly, I had to hold back the moan that was on the edge of my lips.

“Holly,” he whispered. “Holly… I love you.” He leant over and kissed the side of my forehead, then down my neck and finally kissing my collarbone. “I always will.”

He sighed into the back of my neck and rested there. Soon enough I heard his breath even out, telling me that he had fallen asleep. I turned to face him, his beautiful face was peaceful, his lips set in a slight pout and his eyelids fluttered over his eyes. “I love you too,” I told him for the first time. “I always will.” I softly kissed his lips.

His eyes suddenly fluttered open…
