Holly

Three months later

We had been together three months and everything between us was good. We saw each other every other weekend while he was still at college. Thankfully now he had finished and was coming home in the next few days, I couldn’t wait to see him. I couldn’t wait to share our bed again and be with him every day.

“Holly,” I heard whispered behind me. I turned to see Josh and Ollie standing there with smiles on their faces.

“What are you guys doing here, you’re back early,” I said going up to Ollie.

Ollie wrapped his arms around my waist, and kissed me lightly. “I missed you baby. I wanted to surprise you by coming home early, and Josh wanted to join me.” I smiled at his reply and kissed him.

There was a cough beside us, “Um guys could you not do that while I’m standing right here.”

We broke apart and laughed at Josh. I went and hugged Josh, “I missed you Josh. I haven’t seen you in forever.”

“I missed you too, Holly. So where’s Jamie?”

“He’s upstairs asleep, I only just got him off so I don’t want you to disturb him.”

“Fine,” they both sighed.

“So my family is coming over later,” I told them. “They’re staying for a couple of days-”

“What! No! No! No! I don’t want to see her, she’s so annoying, I hate her so much,” Josh said to himself. For a moment I was confused in what he was saying then I remembered his dislike for my little sister. I stated laughing because of it. “Stop laughing Holly, you know how much I hate her.”

“Yeah I know but seriously you haven’t seen her in like four years. You probably won’t feel the same way about her.”

“I know I will Holly, she pissed me off so much.”

“You did the same to her as well.”

He sighed, “I don’t want to see her and that’s final.”

“Fine don’t see her then and try and avoid her for three weeks while you’re both staying in the same house.”

“Argh,” he groan stomping up the stairs leaving Ollie and I to be on our own finally.

Ollie started laughing once Josh was out of sight. “I can’t believe the way he reacted to the mention of your sister.”

“He’s always been like that around her.”

“It’s a little strange don’t you think?” I shrugged in reply, I’d never thought anything of it before but now it did seem a little strange but to be honest I didn’t know how it started.

“I’m going put on some tea so why don’t you put your stuff in my room.”

“Okay baby, see you shortly.”

Later that afternoon my family arrived, Mom and Anna arrived first but were shortly followed by Dad. My parents had changed over the last three months, Mom and Dad were now dating and trying to start over again because in truth they still loved each other from sixteen years ago. They were taking it slow but I could telling that they wanted to be together all the time.

Anna was getting to know Dad as well, it was a little awkward for them at first but they soon got to know each other quickly. I knew that Anna was pleased to have a father at last and Dad was a good role model for her.

Josh briefly came down to greet my parents but blatantly ignore Anna, she did the same back to him as well; I almost burst out laughing when I saw this.

“It’s good to see you again Josh,” Mom smiled.

“It’s good see you too, Ms. Mickers.”

“Josh, I told you too call my Caroline too many times before, I still expect you to me that now.”

“Okay,” Josh sighed before leaving us.

“He really needs to get a girl,” Mom said to us.

“He gets enough at college,” Dad told her. “He’s the player of the team.”

Mom laughed loudly, “Oh boys these days, they’re worse than when we were kids.”

“So true.” They headed into the sitting room and sat down on the sofa. “Get Jamie for me would you Holly?”

“Sure Dad,” I said rushing upstairs to my bedroom. Inside, Ollie’s suitcases were scattered over the floor I knew I would have to unpack his stuff soon because he wouldn’t do it himself for ages. Jamie was sitting up in his cot, he reached his arms out when he saw me. I picked him up and kissed him on the cheek. “I love you baby.”

I carried him downstairs to Dad. He took Jamie straight out of my arms and snuggled him tightly to his chest. I went over to kiss Ollie on his forehead while he talked with Mom. “I’m going to start unpacking some of your stuff because I know you won’t do it yourself.”

“Thank you baby,” he kissed me.

I headed back upstairs to my room. I started with the suitcase closest to the wardrobe and unpack that quickly as it was mostly jeans and t shirts. Soon I went onto the second one, this one was filled with more clothes. As I was folding up some of his clothes a black box fell out onto my bed. I was shocked.

I picked up the small black box and sat down on my bed with it in my hands. I didn’t know what to do. Slowly, I lifted off the lid. Inside was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen, it was a simple ring that had a diamond in the middle of two curved bars, beside these two curved bars were another two bars lined with diamonds. It was so beautiful. I took the ring out of the box and examined it more closely.

Did this mean that Ollie wanted to marry me? Was this ring for me? So many questioned flew through my mine and somehow I found myself slipping the beautiful ring onto my left ring finger. I fitted perfectly. I stretched my hand out to look at the ring from a distance and smiled, I knew I wanted to marry Ollie now, I knew I wanted to be with him forever.

The door opened, which surprised me, I wasn’t expecting anyone to enter. Ollie stood there staring at me. “You found it.” He stated looking at my hand. I nodded. “So will you?”

“Will I what?”

“Marry me?”

I was shocked but happy, this amazing man wanted to marry me and I wanted to marry him. “Yes!” I screamed kissing him passionately.

“Good baby. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

He kissed me again. “I didn’t image you finding out this way, I had it all planned.”

“Really?”

“Yes. I was going to take you to our spot and ask you there but actually thinking about it know I’m kind of glad you found it before I could ask you because I was nervous.”

“My baby was nervous?”

“Yeah baby I was, I wanted it to be special.”

“It was special the way it was,” I smiled. “I’ve got to tell everybody else now.”

“Okay let’s go tell them.”

We went downstairs and told them. They were so happy for us and glad that we were getting married. They thought that we were perfect for each other and no one could say otherwise. Ollie, Jamie and I were finally going to be a proper family.
