Chapter Thirty One
Delilahs Pov
"Honey, I want you to help us out." I was with mom and my fathers in the meeting room, everyone was there but mom has been the only one to speak and it was only directed at me. "I want to adopt Sadie. I think she needs help and I think we need to be the ones to help her. If you're comfortable with it, I want you to tell her your story and then run the possibility of adoption by her. I believe you two can help each other out."
I was confused at the last part but I was excited at the thought of having an older sister. After the winter formal, Sadie gave us all her house number and we've become close. But I'll tell you one thing, Bryan seems to be head over heels for her. He'd call her every night. I should ask for his help. I typed in his name clicked on his contact and waited, listening to the dialing noise until he picked up.
"Sup, sweetcheeks?" He answered the phone.
"Want to do me solid?" I asked. "Throw a little get together at your place. Make sure Sadie comes, she's part of the group now."
"Can I ask why its at my place and not yours?"
"Hey! It was at my place last time!"
"Fine, fine. You get Mark to come, Tyler will get Braydon, and I'll get Sadie."
"Thanks, Bry. I would say I owe you but really, Im doing you a favor. Maybe you can charm her like shes charmed you."
"I dont know what you're talking about."
"Sure Bry. Im going to pretend that I couldnt hear the blush you were sporting and I'll talk to you when you get the ok from your mom." I hung up on him, leaving him stuttering like a fool.
That Saturday everything was ready. We were sitting in the hidden room in a circle.
"So, how does this game work?" Bryan asked me.
"Well, we go one by one around the circle telling our darkest secrets. One rule is only one person can not know the secret. So, in short, you can share the secret as long one person in the room doesn't know."
"How many rounds?" Rachel asked
"Um how about every time we cant think of something we take off an article of clothing, and we play until everyone has one article of clothing off." Everyone nodded.
"I'll go first," Mark-Anthony raised his hand. "Ive had this giant crush on a girl since I saw her in homeroom the first day." He was looking right at me when he said this and I swear my heart skipped a beat.
"Really?" I whispered in disbelief. He smiled at me and nodded.
I was next so I turned and looked right at Sadie as I said my darkest secret. "I was raped at ten years old by my grandfather because of mine and Davids parent's polygamous relationship. Ive had depression and PTSD since then but I know that the people here will help me through it and I hope one day I can take this tragic experience and turn it around and help someone else." I looked over at David who was next.
"To be honest, Ive always felt guilty about being in the room with you and not being able to do anything that day. I think you are one of the strongest woman alive because of how hard you are trying to get through this and not only that but you are trying to help other people as well." He looked to Rachel.
"David Im secretly hoping we have one of those super cliche endings where we end up with a white picket fence and three kids." She sent David a smile.
"What would we name them?"
"Carolina in tribute of your father who was named after states. Dove for my father who insisted to be called a bird for years. And Ben because B-C-D gotta be alphabetical." We all laughed at this.
