Chapter Seven

At home, I had David ask about the party because I knew, if I asked it would be a total no. I know my mother had some bad experiences at parties, but I wasn't just going to give in to not having gone to a single party my whole high school career. Just as I thought, David got the yes.

I went upstairs and got dressed in a red lace, long sleeved dress, that hit above my knees, and had a nude colored under layer. We found out that Mark lived only a couple of blocks away from us, so we walked.

When we got there, music was blaring out of the windows and doors. We rang the doorbell and was greeted by Mark, with a beer bottle in his hand. This made me cringe. He must have noticed, because he set it down, smashing it off the side table next to the door.

My brother went in first, with me following, Mark behind me. He grabbed my hand within his and led me to a kitchen, grabbing a coke, opening it, and handing it to me. That's when I noticed his cut open hand.

"Mark your bleeding, let me clean you up." He just nodded and lead me to the bathroom. He let me bandage him up and didn't even flinch when I put peroxide on it.

We went back to the living room where there was a makeshift dance floor on the carpet. We danced for a while and we had a great time. Well, at least I did.

Mark left after a what seemed like minutes to get us drinks. Then the music stopped.

"I'd like to thank all of you for coming tonight." Said Marks loud voice from the speakers as everyone started clapping and cheering. "I'd also like to introduce all of you to my new friend and girl, David and Delilah. They will be treated with respect or you will face the consequences." I started being pushed forward toward the speakers where I saw David also being pushed lightly by the random peoples' hands. As we stepped up on the staircase where Mark was, the crowd erupted with clapping.

As the party dragged on people started to leave and Mark, somehow, persuaded my brother into letting us stay the night. Though David did throw a fit when he found out the sleeping arrangements. Mark wanted me in his room to make sure I was safe and then my brother could have the spare room. I didn't mind because, he said, he would be a perfect gentleman and sleep on the floor if that's what I wanted, so I took his word. How could I not trust a person I have no reason not to trust. North and Victor did a background check before they let me go and Mark was clean. When the party ended, there were a few kids passed out around the house but sleeping arrangements stayed the same.

Mark gave me some sleepwear and tucked me in his bed before he left to get dressed and grab spare blankets. I was out before he came back.

"You shouldn't have let me in Delilah. Didn't your scumbag fathers teach you not to let people in when they aren't home?"

I woke up with a jolt. I don't recognize the room at all. Then it all came back to me. I stayed the night at Marks house. I looked at the clock and it was only two o'clock. I stood up to go find my brother and tell him I had a nightmare, and my bare feet hit something fleshy.
