Chapter Forty Three
Bryans POV
I picked up my phone and called Sadie to see how she was doing.
"Hello?" She picked up.
"Hey, babe. How are you feeling?" I asked her
"Excited, scared. I know I really want to do this and it feels like the right thing to do, but I dont want Laura and Anderson to think that Im ungrateful of what they have given me." She confided in me.
"I think if they really love you, they will know that giving you a true family will be giving you the greatest gift they could ever give you."
I really wanted to help her but I wasnt sure of what to do. There was dead silence for a while so I spoke again.
"Why would you think that they were angry?"
"Anderson came in looked up at me then slammed his bedroom door. Laura is still sitting on the couch crying, she hasn't moved since she got home." She said with a sob. "Am I doing the right thing?"
"Shush babe please don't cry." My heart sank." You just said it felt right. Why second guess yourself?"
"Can you come over? I dont want to be alone right now." She asked, her need for me seeping through the phone.
"Im on my way. "
I looked at my clock, one oclock. I threw on a pair of khakis and a solid white polo shirt.
I ran downstairs to tell mom.I walked into the kitchen, interrupting a conversation between Braydon and Mom. I didnt care if I was being rude.
"Hey Mom, Im going over to Sadies. She wants me to go to the court with her. Todays adoption day." I gave her a kiss on the cheek and rushed out to my car.
I was getting aggravated by the speed limit. 30 mph wasnt getting me to Sadie fast enough. I made it to Sadies and ran out of my car. .I knocked on the door and Sadie swung it open to fling herself into my arms. I held her as she cried.
When she calmed down enough, we went up to her room. It was clean with the exception of a small cardboard box in the corner. We laid in her bed where I just held her.
