Chapter Forty

Mark-Anthonys POV

I looked at my phone for the third time this morning. Dammit, Delilah, its ten oclock. Why arent you up yet? I sent a third message.

Me: Want breakfast?

7:59am

Me: Yes? No?

9:10am

Me: Im on my way over since you wont answer your phone. Be there in ten.

10:02am

I walked out of my house, unlocking my car and driving down the road. When I got to her house, I rang the doorbell. Mrs. Blackbourne - Sang - opened the door.

"Hi, Mark! What brings you here today?" She asked with a smile.

"Hi! Can I see Delilah?" I asked. "I texted her about breakfast but she never answered."

She frowned but opened the door. "I think she's asleep."

"Oh, that's ok. Is David up?" She nodded. "Can I hang out with him until she wakes up?"

"Sure." She said with a smile. "He's in the family room playing video games."

I nodded and went upstairs to get to the room. David was playing the new Assassins Creed.

"Hey, dude!" I greeted

"Hey man! Whats up?" He asked.

"Nothing much. Planned on taking your sister out to breakfast but shes not up yet." I told him.

"So why not wake her?" He said like it was so obvious.

"Can I? Wont she get mad?" He shrugged.

"Maybe? Shell get over it when you buy her breakfast." His logic actually made sense.

"Thanks, dude." I stood up and fixed my vest. I was on my way out when David stopped me.

"Hey, Mark, why do you always get dressed up when you go out with my sister?" I looked down and shrugged.

"When I was growing up, my dad always told me that if I wanted to keep a woman I had to treat every date like it was the first." I began to think about to think about mine and Delilahs first date.

I turned back around and went to Delilahs room. When I opened her door, I saw her curled up with her blanket. I went to the side of her bed and sat down, looking at her sleeping face.

"Wake up my one and only," I whispered as I brushed her hair away from her face. She groaned and slowly opened her eyes.

"Go away." She groaned, shutting her eyes.

"Fine, Ill just go get some strawberry crepes by myself," I said with a smile. Her eyes shot open and she sat straight up.

"What?" She asked.

"Do you want breakfast? Im buying." She nodded. "I'll give you fifteen minutes to get ready I walked out of her room and back into the family room."

"Did it work?" David asked. I nodded.

"I gave her fifteen minutes to get ready." I started to watch David play.

Seventeen minutes later, Delilah walked in looking like a goddess. She had her hair in loose curls. She wore black stockings that were almost see through under a dark purple skirt and a white sweater. She was wearing a pair of black-rimmed glasses. She pushed them up her nose and smiled.

"I ran out of contacts, they should come in the mail this afternoon." She looked down and I smiled.

"I like them. You should wear them more often, they suit you." I walked over and offered her my elbow. "Shall we?"

She grabbed the inside of my elbow and we went downstairs where she said goodbye to her mother. I went ahead of her to open her door. We got in and we were on our way. I drove us downtown to a small breakfast café.

"I'll go order for us. Will you go grab us a table?" I suggested. She nodded and I went up to the front and looked into the display and the menu they offered. I looked and smiled at the worker.

"Can I have two strawberry crepes, two mocha chocolate muffins, one breakfast tea and one coffee. For the tea can you put in 5 sugars and a shot of cream and for the coffee, 3 sugars and 3 shots of cream?"

"Can I get the names for the drinks?" She asked.

"Mark for the coffee and Delilah for the tea."

"Please take a seat and well bring it right out."

I walked over to Delilah and sat down across from her.

"What'd you get?" She asked. I gave her a smile.

"Its a secret."

The food came soon after. I swear that Delilah had a smile on her face even as she ate.

"You know they say that a real man remembers his woman's coffee order." She said.

"But you dont like coffee much. Youd rather drink tea." I said.

"Which is why Im going to wife you up someday." She said with a giggle. I furrowed my eyebrows in fake confusion.

"Wouldnt you husband me up?" She let out a laugh which made me chuckle. "Want to go to the winter market they're having down in Charleston?"

"Sure!" She said. "We stood up and started walking out."

"Have a good day!" Yelled the counter girl. "Come back soon!"

 "Come back soon!"
