Part 16

I was dragged by Maddie from the hallways, down the stairs and through the parking lot.

'Pasok!' she said while she kept the passenger's door of her car open.

She really looks scary right now though so I entered her car immediately.

As soon as I did, she went on the other side to get into the car as well.

'Ano yung mga pinagsasabi mo dun, Ethan?'her face is on her palms and looks so frustrated

'What? aren't you supposed to thank me? and you said yes too when you were asked by your ex if it's true right?' I answered back

'I know! only because I was caught on the spot. What was that even about? she's facing me now

'Well it is obvious that you do not want to talk to him so I did you a favor. I'm pretty sure he will stop now. Not unless you are just playing hard to get and that you still want him back.' i said calmly

'o-o-ofcourse not!' she doesn's sound convinced with what she's saying at all

I just smirked as a response then she looked at me again 'It may have been over for now, like what you said but since you are not my 'JOWA' then he'll soon find out and will start bothering me again. You see, I will look as if I am the bad person here for lying.' she explained

'hmmmmm...well I got this planned out earlier while you are dragging me around.' I turned my body towards her so I can explain clearly while seeing her reaction

'Alright here is the thing. We can pretend as BF and GF for the moment. I kinda need this too you know.'

I looked at her first after that statement and can see that she's not planning to respond anytime soon so I continued.

'I know you have heard it from Nick and Mac that they think I am gay. Stupid as it is for them to think that way but I am clearly not, okay?'

'The bad thing is that my parents also think that I am. I mean I do not have anything against someone being gay it's just that I am not. So I kinda said that I have a girlfriend even if I do not just for them to stop.'

She is still not responding but is listening attentively, so I continued.

'I thought it will end there but they said they will be returning in 2 weeks time and they would want to meet her.' now i dont sound confident enough.

'so you have planned this all along then?' she asked sounding confused

'No. I did not. Not until I saw what's happening earlier.' I said defensively

'and I think you will be the perfect fit for the situation. It is clear you don't like me and I don't like you either so I do not have to worry about you getting attached and all.'

She's thinking about it, I can tell. Hmmmm.... I just hope she will be convinced.

'I am not sure about this Ethan, we have to lie to your family and to our friends.'

Now this I have not considered.

'Don't you want to live at peace while at school? We will both benefit in this even if that means that we will have to lie to our friends for the time being.'

'I'm not sure Ethan, pwede ko bang pagisipan muna to?' she said

'Okay Maddie but we do not have much time. Tyrone from what I can see goes in this school now and my Parents will be here in less than 2 weeks now.' i said trying to convince her

'I'll let you know once I have decided. Uhm, can I have your number so I can let you know?' she asked shyly

'You do not have to make up a reason just to get my number Maddie.' I said while typing my number on her phone

'Haha. You wish! Now Out!' she gestured for me to get outside of the car and as soon as I am out she drove away!

'Fuck! I didn't get her number. What if she wouldn't text or call me to let me know the answer? Fuck Fuck Fuck.' I said and pulled my hair in frustration

Then I remembered her Dad so I called Tito Alex.

'Hi Tito!' i said as soon as he answered

'oh yes ethan, what is it?' tito alex said

'uhm, can I ask for Maddie's number?'

when he did not answer straight away, I felt nervous.

Maybe he thought I am hitting on her daughter

'uhm, we have a class together and was advised by Prof that we will be partners in an activity. I would like to ask her plans but she already went out for lunch and I do not have her number.' i said, hopefully he buys it.

'You do not have to sound so defensive Ethan. I'll give it to you anyway. I'll send it to you via txt, yeah? Tito Alex was laughing on the other end.

'Okay Tito. Thanks, bye.'

'Bye.'

As soon as I got Maddie's number. I called her.

She did not answer.

I called her again.

She did not answer.

Last attempt.

She still did not answer.

I sent her a text message.

After a few minutes, I called Maddie once again.

'Hello?' she answered

'Finally! why weren't you answering?' I asked

'Cause I don't answer calls from unknown numbers and also I was driving.' she replied

'Where are you?' I asked

'Going somewhere not near the school. I do not know what to say to my friends yet so I will skip school for now.' She said

'Can I go with you? obviously I also do not know what to say to my friends cause I do not know what your decision is.'

'can you give me time and space to think about this first?' She asked me again

'Alright. If you say so but please let me know as soon as possible, yeah?'

'Okay. I will. Thanks.'

'Bye' we said in unison and ended the call.

Since I do not have anywhere else to go I decided to go home now to get away from interrogation from my friends.
