It's been a week since the thing with Lily's dad, and she was still staying with me. She was just too afraid to go back. My parents had to stay with my uncle a little longer since he was accused of more things than they knew of.

"I gotta go to work babe", Lily said walking into the kitchen. "Here, I got you some left over pasta if you'd like." "Heaven in a box!", she said holding the box of pasta in the air. "Thank you." She smiled and kissed me. "Have a good day at work", I said. She smiled at me and walked out of the kitchen. Within seconds, she came running back in. "I love you", she said and kissed me on the cheek. I smiled to myself as she ran back out. "I love you too!" Then I heard the door shut.

I walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. I flicked through the channels, but there was nothing nice to watch. I leaned back and sighed. I had spent every day of the week with Lily, and now she went back to work and I realised it's just really boring being by yourself.

I turned on some music and walked around the house a bit. Then my phone rang. Mom. "Hi mom, how are you?", I said. "Hi honey, we're doing okay. How are you? And is Lily okay?", she asked. "Yeah, she's been doing great. So have I. When are you guys coming home?" "We're not sure. The trial is in two days. So we should be ready to go afterwards." "Oh. Is uncle Mike doing okay?", I asked. "Yeah. Well, he's pissed off, but he did this to himself. We'll call you when there's more news okay?" "Sure", I said. "Sorry for being away so long. We'll make it up to you", she said. "It's okay. Say hi to dad for me." "Will do. Goodbye honey." "Bye", I said and hung up. I threw my phone on the couch and walked into the kitchen, looking for something to eat. "Why do we never have anything nice in this house", I said to myself.

I grabbed my car keys and went to the grocery store.

I walked through the isles and grabbed everything that looked appetizing. Cereal, pancake mix, bags of crisps and chocolate. I also got a bunch of stuff for a few lunch and dinner meals. I walked into an isle for some toilet paper when I saw Jake. "Jake!", I said. He turned around and smiled. "Emma!" He walked up to me and hugged me. "How have you been?", he asked. "Pretty good. How about you?" He nodded. "Me too. How are you and Lily?" I smiled. "We're good. Really good actually. She's at work right now." "That's good to hear. Hey, I gotta go, but we should hang sometime!" "Yeah, I'd like that", I said. "Great! I'll text you." He ran off.

I continued walking and grabbed a pack of toilet paper, and a pack of paper towels. As soon as I walked around the corner, I saw Jake with a girl. She looked familiar to me, so I thought they were just here with a couple of friends. But then he wrapped his arm around her waist and kissed her. I felt some sort of jealousy coming up. I shook my head to pull myself out of my thoughts and kept walking.

I grabbed a few more items and went to the register.

"Good afternoon! Were you able to find everything you needed?", the girl behind the register said. "Hi. Yeah, I got everything. Thanks." The entire time I kept looking for Jake and the girl. "Miss?", I heard. "Yeah, sorry", I said. "That'll be $47,38 please." I handed her a $50 bill. "Keep the change", I said. "Thank you. Have a nice day!" "You too", I said smiling. I grabbed my bags and walked back to the car.

I was putting the bags in the trunk when I spotted Jake and his new girlfriend. They were making out by his car. I pulled myself together and got in the car, when I got a phone call from Lily. "Hey babe", I said.
