"Here you go", the waitress said putting our food on the table. I widened my eyes. "Too much?", Jake asked. I shook my head. "Not at all. It just looks delicious." "Enjoy", the waitress said. "Thank you."

I took a bite from the cheeseburger and ate a few fries. "So good", I said. Jake just looked at me. "I can't believe your not fat", he said. I laughed. "How come?" "Well you eat that much, but you're like, skinny." I shrugges my shoulders and took another bite from my burger.

"Aren't you gonna eat that?", I asked pointing at his hotdog. "I forgot about it for a second", he said and took a bite. I took a final bite from the burger and finished my fries. "Are you full yet?", Jake asked. I shook my head. "Not even close." I continued with the chicken and waffles and onion rings.

After a while, I finished all the food. "Fuck you actually did it", Jake said. I shrugged my shoulders. "Told you I could." He clapped his hands. "Respect girl", he said. I laughed. "I gotta tell you, I am kinda full now." "Just now? You just ate food that was meant to feed 3 people", he said. He said back and raised his hand. "Waitress? Can I get the check, please?" She smiled and nodded. She returned with the bill. "Was everything okay?", she asked. We both nodded. "You got a big stomach, girl", she said. I giggled. "I know. I'm a little embarrassed. She smiled. "Keep the change", Jake said. "Thank you! Enjoy your day." We both smiled and left the diner.

We just walked over the boulevard. "So how is everything with Lily?", he asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "Not sure. She's been acting weird ever since we came back from the hospital, but I understand I guess", I said. "You should talk to her. Ask her what's wrong, and maybe you can do something for her." "I don't know. I don't think she wants to talk to me about that. She doesn't like talking about her dad in general, let alone talk about what happened", I said. He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. I think she'll appreciate it if you don't push her, but you let her know she can come to you when she needs to." I nodded. "I guess I can try that", I said.

I spotted a trampoline in the middle of the beach. "First one there is the awesomest!", I yelled and sprinted towards the trampoline. Halfway there, I stopped to take a breather. "I shouldn't have done that", I said to myself. Jake passed me. "But I want to be the awesomest." I jogged over to the trampoline and said on the bench. "What's up, loser? Can't beat the awesomest guy?", he said. "It's because we just ate", I said. "Good excuse. Come on." He pulled me onto the trampoline and he started jumping. "My stomach", I said. He laughed. "Come on!" I shook my head as I watched him do a backflip. "Show off", I said. "What's that?" I laughed and pushed him. "Oh, we're gonna play it like that, huh?", he said. He lifted me over his shoulders and threw me off. I got up and tackled his legs, letting him fall on his back. He laughed. "Good one."

"I'm out of breath now", I said. "Shouldn't have eaten so much", he said. He kept jumping and tackled me again. We were now face to face. For a second it felt like everything went back to normal. Jake being my boyfriend, Lily just being my best friend, and it felt kind nice. He looked me in the eyes and slowly leaned in. I let it happen for a minute, but I realised I couldn't do it. As our faces were only inches apart, I pulled away. "I'm sorry, I.." "No, I'm sorry. I know you're with Lily now." I got up and stepped off the trampoline. Jake walked after me. "Emma, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done it. For a second, it just felt like we were Jake and Emma again. It won't happen again." I shook my head. "It's okay. I had the same thoughts, but I'm with Lily. And even tho we might not be the perfect couple right now, it's her I wanna be with", I said. He nodded. "I get it. I hope this won't change our friendship." I smiled at him. "Of course not." We walked back to the boulevard.

"Thanks for lunch, Jake. I'm gonna go check on Lily if you don't mind", I said. He nodded. "Sure. I'll see you soon", he said. I smiled and hugged him.
