Demi and I talked for a while. Her story about Alex was so beautiful and inspiring, I couldn't stop listening to it.

"So that's about it", she said. She reached for her necklace. "I sort of moved on, but I'll never be able to forget about her. Sam is great tho. Nicky loves her and I know Alex would like her too." I smiled. "That's so great", I said. "Lily and you will be okay. Just give her some time." I nodded. "Thank you so much." I handed her a 5 dollar bill. She shook her head. "On the house." I smiled. "Thanks." I got up and she gave me a hug. "Good luck with you and your girlfriend. Just let her sort everything out", she said. "I hope so. Thanks again." She nodded and waved as she walked back to the coffee machine.

I stepped out and started walking. I had no idea where I was, and where I was going. On the way, I passed an arcade hall, a small drug store and a few grocery stores.

After what felt like hours, I finally got to my house. I stepped inside, hoping I'd find Lily there, waiting for me. I unlocked the door and stepped inside. "Lily?", I said. No answer. "Lily are you here?" Still nothing. I sighed and let myself fall on the couch. I looked at the clock, 9 pm. I got up and paced back and forth. My stomach started growling, so I walked into the kitchen to get myself something to eat.

While a pizza was in the oven, I searched for my phone. The screen was a bit cracked, but it was still working. I unlocked it and checked my messages. There was one.

"I'm sorry I ran out like that. I just need some time. Can I come over tomorrow and maybe talk about it?" I smiled. "You don't have to ask that. I'll see you tomorrow", I send back. I put my phone down and walked back into the kitchen.

I woke up to a knock on the door. I got up from the couch and rubbed my eyes, trying to wake myself up. I opened the door. "Hey", I said smiling. "You're early." "It's 2 pm", she said. My eyes widened. "I slept that long, jesus." "Probably because I wasn't keeping you up with my snoring", she said smiling. I shook my head. "There's nothing wrong with your snoring." She stepped inside and walked past me. I shut the door behind her.

"You look like a mess", she said. I shrugged my shoulders. "I am a mess." She smiled and shook her head. I sat down next to her.

"I'm sorry", I started. "I should've told you about it. It shouldn't have even happened in the first place." She nodded. "I just don't get why", she said. "I don't know. I think because we, well I, ended things just like that. We didn't talk about it, we didn't see each other since. And having lunch with him and just having fun brought back memories. I think we were both in some kind of world where everything was just a dream. Like our relationship wasn't real and Jake and I were still together." She shook her head. "That doesn't make any sense to me", she said. "Do you have any idea how many times I can't believe that you told me you felt the same way, and that we're dating now? Right that moment with Jake, I thought it was something I had just imagined. I thought everything we've been through together, was just a dream or whatever you want to call it. And then everything just snapped and I realised it wasn't. It was real and you actually like me, and.. I love you. It was a mistake, and it won't happen again, I promise", I said. I let out a deep breath. She quickly wiped away a tear.

"I missed you", she said breaking the silence. A smile formed on my face. "Does that mean we're okay?", I said. "Not entirely, but we'll get there", she said. I hugged her tightly. "You have no idea how relieved I am right now", I said. I pulled away and brushed my fingers through her hair.

"Where did you spend the night?", I asked. "At home", she said. I frowned. "Home? What about your dad?" "I didn't sleep", she said. "Why?", I said. "I was too scared. It's okay tho, I'm not that tired." I nodded. "If you say so." I pecked her lips.
