"Could you tell me what happened?", a police officer said. I sat up. "Lily had been staying with me for over a week, since her dad is very abbusive. The day I picked her up, he was extremely agressive. She was too afraid to go home, so I said she could stay with me. Everything went well, until her dad came by. He was looking for Lily but she didn't want him to know she was staying with me, so I said I hadn't seen her. He burst in and started looking for Lily. I tried stopping him but he started attacking me. Lily appeared and told him to back off. He was holding me up against a wall. Then he let go, grabbed Lily and tried to pull her with him. She was yelling at him because he was hurting her, but he didn't listen. That's when I tried to calm him down. It didn't really work cus he punched me right on the face", I said. He nodded and wrote it down.

"What happened to Lily when you went to pick her up?", he asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't really know actually. She didn't want to talk about it. I just know she had bruises on her arm." He wrote that down as well. "Do you know what happened to Lily before the incident?" I shook my head. "I blacked out, I think. I remember waking up, and hearing her cry. Then I saw her leaning against the wall, with blood on her hands. I tried getting up but I was dizzy and kinda weak. When I was finally able to get to her, I noticed a wound on her stomach. I did the first thing that came up to me and grabbed towels to put pressure on the wound." "You did good", he said. "She could've have died there if you didn't do what you did. You saved her life", he said. "I just did what I thought was best. Anyone would've done that. I don't see myself any different now", I said. He got up and shook my hand. "Thanks for your cooperation", he said and left.

"How did it go?", I heard. I looked at the door and saw Lily standing there. "It went well, he said I saved your life and all that." She smiled. "You did tho." She sat on the edge of my bed. "What are you even doing here. Shouldn't you be in bed?" "Doctor said I could go and see you", she said. "So here I am." I smiled. "How did it go with you?" She shrugged her shoulders. "Just fine. They wanted to know what happened before you came and got me." "What did you tell them?", I asked. "Nothing. I said I couldn't remember." I frowned. "You can't just lie to the police. They might need that information to arrest your dad." "I know, but I've told you already that I don't want to talk about it." I nodded. "If that's what you want."

"I still don't know what happened between you and your dad when I was out. Did he stab you?", I asked. She nodded. "He was absolutely furious. He went insane and I got scared. I ran into the kitchen and grabbed the first thing I saw, which was a knife. I needed to protect myself, you know." Tears were forming in her eyes. "It's okay, you don't have to continue", I said rubbing her back. She took a deep breath. "When he saw me holding a knife, he started talking about how much he misses me at home and how much he loves me. I had never heard him say that, so I believed him. I lowered the knife and he walked up to me. Then he just grabbed the knife from me. I tried to run away from him but he just pushed me against the wall and stabbed me." "Jesus", I said. "Where did he go?" She shrugged her shoulders. "When he realised what he had done, he just ran off, leaving us there." "Asshole", I said. "They'll find him, and give him what he deserves." She nodded.

"Can I stay here with you for a little while? My room gets lonely after a while", she said. I smiled and nodded. She laid down next to me and faced me. "I have never known a couple that's been through this much in less than a month of being together", she said.
