It was 9:30 pm and I was laying in bed. I was working on my book again, since I had nothing else to do. "That's wrong", I said. I removed a sentece an rewrote it. "He saw a bright, white light coming from across the lake. He couldn't stop but stare at it. He walked into the water, fully dressed, determind to find out what it was", I wrote. "That's better", I said.
It was about a group of friends that feel like something's hiding in the Woods, something paranormal. I'd always liked the paranormal. I believed there were ghosts among us, aliens up in space and weird creatures we still had to discover. The story went a little deeper than that, but that was the headline.

I checked the clock, and it 11:43 pm already. I closed my laptop and put it on my desk. I got changed into my pj's and got back into bed. As I closed my eyes, my phone rang. I turned around to grab it from my night stand. Lily. "Hey", I said. I just heard breathing. "What's up?" Still nothing. Maybe she just buttdialed me, so I hung up. Then she called again. I sat up and answered. "Lily, are you okay?", I asked. Still just breathing. "I'm coming over." I got out of bed, changed into something else and got to my car. "Stay on the line", I said getting in the car. "Can you at least just make a noise or say something so I know you're not accidentally calling me?" It was silent for a while, but then I heard something. "Help."

I hit the gas pedal and pulled out the drive way. "I'm on my way, just stay on the line. I'll be with you in 5 minutes. I'm doing the best I can." I pulled into the high way and speeded up. It was late, so there weren't as many cars on the road as usual.

Within minutes, I pulled up in Lily's drive way. I knocked on the door, no answer. "Lily, I'm outside your door. Can you open up?", I said into the phone. "No", she whispered. I looked through the window and saw her dad. I was about to knock on the window when he threw a chair through the room. "What's going on here?", I said to myself. I knocked on the window, waiting for Lily's dad to see me.

"What do you want?", he said opening the front door. "Hi, I was wondering if you wanted to check my car. I was driving home, and the lights just stopped working", I said. I had to think of something to get him out of the house. "I'm sorry Emma, but I don't have time for this. You can come by tomorrow." He wanted to get back into the house when I stopped him. "It's just a second. I'm afraid to drive without lights." "Fine, could you get me my tool box? You know where it is right?", he asked as he opened the hood. I nodded. "Thank you sir!" I walked into the house. "Where are you? Your dad is outside", I said into the phone. I heard a crack coming from upstairs. "Is it safe", she said through the phone. "Yeah, just hurry." I looked out through the window and saw him looking under the hood.

Lily slowly walked downstairs and peaked her head around the corner. "Walk around through the backyard", I said. "I'll pick you up when your dad is back inside." She looked at me and sighed. "Thank you." She ran outside, and through the back gate. I got the tool box from the cabinet and went back outside. "Here you go, sir", I said. He nodded. He kept looking for loose wires or leaking fluids. "I don't see anything, Emma", he said. He went to the drivers side and opened the car door and just like that, he turned on the lights. "You just didn't turn on the lights." "I'm so stupid. I probably just turned them off by accident", I said. He raised an eyebrows and grabbed his tool box. "Thanks anyways!" He didn't say anything and just went back inside.

I got back into my car and drove around the back, seeing Lily standing there, waiting for me. I got out of the car and walked over to her. She was shaking and there were tear stains on her cheeks. I took of my jacket and wrapped it around her. "Come on", I said.
