We were just laying on the couch, our bare bodies touching. "I missed you", I said as I brushed my fingers through her hair. "Me too." She looked up and and pecked me on the lips.
"What are you doing tonight? Any plans?", I asked. She shook her head. "No, I was hoping I got to spend some time with you", she said. "Good. We're going out tonight." She smiled. "Where to?", she asked. "Just your favorite restaurant." She got up and grinned. "Sushi?" I nodded. "Yes! That's the only thing I missed when I was in Spain." I scraped my throat. "And you of course", she said as she kissed me. "Thought so", I said.
"I should unpack my things", she said. "Not yet", I said pouting. She rolled her eyes. "Fine, just for a little bit." I smiled and wrapped my arms around her as she laid back down.
"So, tell me things about Spain. What was it like?", I said. "It was wonderful. It was so much different from here. The food was amazing, the people were nice, there were a lot of hot guys and girls." I raised an eyebrows. "Oh don't you even do that", she said pointing at my face. "I would never do anything like that, unlike you." I stayed quiet for a while. "I'm sorry", she said. "Unlike me?" I got up. "I didn't even do anything and you know it. It's not fair to keep bringing this up while I've been trying my hardest to make it up to you, to win your trust back."
I put my clothes back on.
"Babe, I'm sorry. I didn't meant to say that", she said sitting up. "But you did say it." I grabbed the car keys from the floor and headed for the door. "Are you really going to leave right now?" I looked back at her. "Yeah. I'm not really excited about fighting over this again. I'll give you some time, and you let me know if you can actually forgive me or not."
I stepped out and shut the door behind me.
I sighed as I got in the car. "I knew she was still mad about it", I said to myself. Suddenly the passenger door opened and Lily got in.
"I do forgive you", she said. I looked at her and frowned. "You've been trying, and I can see that. Sometimes it just feels like you're only doing it because of what happened." I shrugged my shoulders. "What does that have to do with forgiving me?", I asked. "I just want you to be who you were before everything. You were great the way you were, without trying so hard. I love that we go out together, but these days it's just predictable and I enjoyed it when it would be a surprise. I'm sorry I brought it up, I really am. It just slipped out, but it won't happen again, I promise."
I smiled. "So no sushi tonight?", I asked. "Oh that's still on", she said. "But for the future." I nodded. "I'll try", I said. She leaned over and kissed me. "Now will you please come back in and help me unpack?" "Hmm.. No", I said. She stepped out and disappeared for a second. Then she pulled my door open and tried to pull me out. "Fine", I said. "Just please stop this, it's pathetic." She laughed.
I stepped out of the car and pulled her back.
"Do you believe there's something like a "forever"?", I asked. She shrugged her shoulders. "Depends on how you look at it. If forever to you means as long as the earth exists, then no. If forever means as long as the universe exists, then yes", she said. "Why?" I shook my head. "Just asking." I tried to walk into the house but she stopped me.
"Why are you asking?", she asked. "I don't know. It just popped up in my head", I said. "What about you?", she asked. "What about me?" "Do you believe there's a forever?", she asked. I nodded. "Definitely", I said. "What is your forever?" I looked at her and smiled. "You are."
