It had been a week since the incident. We were on the way to Lily's house to pick up some stuff, since she was going to be staying with me for a while longer. The police was watching the house and had been looking for evidence. He never came back for clothes or other stuff, he just disappeared.

"What if my dad is there?", she asked. "He won't be. And even if he dares to show up, I'll kick his ass." She giggled. "Last time you tried that, he kicked your ass." "Don't underestimate my powers", I said. "Sure." I raised an eyebrow. "Wanna bet I'm stronger than you?", I asked. She nodded. "Sure, why not. But you have to wait until I'm a bit more healed, because I might rip out my stitches when I kick your ass." I laughed. "We'll see about that."

I pulled up in her drive way and got out of the car. "I'll check if anyone's here okay?" I took her house key and opened the front door. "Hello?", I said. Nothing. I stepped inside the house and looked around. It was still a mess, but there was no one here. "It's okay, you can come in", I said. Lily slowly stepped inside and looked around. "What a mess", she said. She walked around the living room and picked up some of the broken pieces of wood. "How can one man break a kitchen chair like that?" I shrugged my shoulders. "Your dad is more like two men in one body." She chuckled. "True." "I'm gonna get my stuff", she said. "Do you want me to come with you?" She shook her head. "No, it's fine." I nodded. "Yell if you need me", I said. She pecked my lips and went upstairs.

I walked around the house, looking at pictures and cleaning up some of the mess. I found a picture of Lily as a 9 year old, with her dad. They looked happy. There were a few more pictures. Lily and her mom, her parents, Lily by herself. How could something make such a huge turn. They seemed so happy, and it all just became one big mess. I put down the pictures and moved the furniture back to its old place.

About half an hour went by and Lily wasn't back yet. I got up and yelled from the bottom of the stairs. "Are you okay?" Nothing. "Lily?", I yelled again. Still nothing. I walked up the stairs, looking around. "Lily, are you okay?" I slowly opened the door to her room. She was sitting on the edge of her bed, looking at a picture. I walked in and sat next to her. "That's a nice picture", I said. She nodded. "It was our beach day. I was 8, and it was the first time I ever went to a beach. My parents were happy, I was happy. I wish I could go back to that day and just have my parents back", she said. She rested her head on my shoulder. I wrapped my arm around her and kissed her on the top of her head.

"Sorry I was taking so long. I was packing, when I found the picture", she said getting up. "It's okay. Do you need help?" She shook her head. Her bag was only half full. She grabbed a few pieces her clothing from her closet and a few more things she needed. "I'm ready", she said. I got up and took her bag from her. "Let's go."

We got in my car and just sat there for a while.

"Do you wanna go somewhere?", I asked. She shook her head. "I kinda just wanna have a normal day for now. Just chill for a bit, get some sleep. I'm tired. Is that okay?" I nodded. "Yeah, of course. Whatever you like." I started the car. "I will pick up some fast food if that's okay with you", I said. I knew it was okay, because that was her favorite; randomly getting a bunch a fast food. She nodded. "I'm craving cheese fries!" I chuckled. "Then we'll get you some cheese fries."
