Chapter 17

I woke up to a cold breeze and the sun shining in my face. I woke up and noticed Lily just sitting on my bed, with her back against the wall, watching me. "Good morning, and happy birthday", she said smiling. I blinked my eyes a few times and yawned. "Thank you", I said. "What time is it?" "It's 8 am", she said. "8 am?! Why am I even awake at 8 am on my birthday." I grabbed the pillow from under my head and covered my face with it. "Wake me at 12." She didn't say anything. I felt the matress move, and then I felt her head on my chest. I took the pillow from my face and looked down. "Are you okay?", I asked. She nodded. "I like sharing a bed with you", she said. "We've never done it before. I mean, not like this." I wrapped an arm around her. "So I guess you slept well?", I asked. "So good." She looked up at me. "Thank you, for getting me out of there." I smiled at her. "You don't have to thank me for that. There isn't a thing I wouldn't do for you."

She softly placed her lips on mine.

"Sorry for ruining your birthday tho", she said. "Stop it. You didn't. I get to wake up with you, so it's the best birthday ever already."

"So, what are we going to do today?", she asked. "Don't you have to go to work?" "I called in sick today. I'm not mentally stable enough to go to work today. Plus, I wanna spend the day with you and celebrate your 20th birthday." I sat up and stretched out.

"Shouldn't we maybe, stop by your house today? See if your dad is okay?", I said. She shook her head. "I'm not going back there.. Not today." "So you wanna spend the night here again?", I asked. She looked at me hopefully. "Maybe?" I rolled my eyes. "Can't you just get a hotel room or something. Sharing the covers with you is like sharing the covers with a heater. I was sweating like hell", I said. She started laughing and playfully hit my arm. "I have a warm body temperature, okay?"

I got out of bed and grabbed a few pieces of clothing. "I'm gonna take a shower, you think of what you want for breakfast", I said. "I thought you wanted to sleep some more", she said. I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm awake now. I wouldn't even be able to fall asleep with you next to me." She giggled. "I'll be right back." She nodded and blew me a kiss. I kept the door open just a little, so I could hear her when she said something.

"Babe? Is it okay if I checked my social media on your laptop? I didn't bring my charger and you have a stupid iPhone", she asked. "Sure!", I said.

After a few minutes, I got out of the shower and grabbed a towel. "Did you get in?"I asked. I didn't get an answer. "Babe?", I said. I peeked my head out the door and saw her sitting on my bed, scrolling through my laptop. "What are you doing?", I asked. She looked up with raised eyebrows. "Oh no, did you find my nudes?" She shook her head. "This, story. Did you write it?", she asked. I completely forgot about my book. Lily didn't know about it either. I quickly put on some clothes and walked back into my room. "You weren't supposed to see that", I said taking the laptop from her. "But it's good! Why didn't you want me to see it?" I shrugged my shoulders. "It's not finished yet. I wanted to show you when it was, when I felt good enough about it", I said. "It's great! Can I keep reading it. I need to know what happens to Kelly and Charlie." "You read that fast? That's like, chapter 4", I said. "Well, it's that good. Please send me a copy", she said. "As soon as I fix all the mistakes, you'll be the first person to read it." "Deal", she said.

She got up from the bed and wrapped her arms around my waist. "Those nudes you were talking about.." I laughed. "Private", I said. I closed my laptop and put it back on my desk. "You're no fun", she said. I winked at her and went back into the bathroom.
