The weather is getting cooler as we are in the last weeks of November. The winter dance is in two weeks, on December 15 and everyone is getting too excited about it.
I thought it was an idiotic idea for the dance to be in winter, but we will be dancing and heat ourselves up, also there will be a heater and we all get to dress up fancy and wear masks. If we want to.
When I get out of fourth period, I go to my locker and then confetti comes out and I flinch and jump back. When I look again, I see many rose petals and a paper hanging from my locker that says turn around.
When I do, music comes on and James comes doing a dance solo, dancing around me and putting a bouquet of roses in my hands.The music stops and he stands in front of me, smiling widely.He says, "Will you go to the Winter dance with me?"
"Yes." I say grabbing him into a hug and he kisses me on the lips.
I decided to be a better girlfriend to James and let him kiss me on the lips. It may not be as good as Josiah, but to forget him, I need to do all I can.
I am really excited to go to the dance with James though.
"We should go shopping together." He says grabbing my waist close to him, and we begin walking.
"First lets get some lunch. I am hungry." I say.
When we reach the cafeteria, everyone is chattering about the dance. Both James and I go to our table and they begin talking to him about how he asked me to the dance.
I then feel Sam jump in the seat next to me, hugging me tightly. I look into her smiling eyes and say,"What's up?"
"So I seen that awesome performance by your awesome boyfriend." She squels and I laugh.
"Yeah, I did not even expect that. I felt do special. " I say smiling and taking a bite out of my sandwich.
"We are going to have so much competition for king and queen. It's you and James, me and Travis, and Kayla and Josiah. " She says counting down her fingers, and I cringe when she says Josiah, which make me think of the times we shared together.
I feel uncomfortable, and to top things off, Josiah and Kayla come straddling in, hand in hand. I look at them briefly, wishing that Josiah and I could be friends. He does not even make eye contact with me at all. I told him not to, and he actually listens.
They go to sit down and they are facing our way, and I make sure to avoid them. I realize that I am not even paying attention to Sam, who has been rambling about how Travis is a sweetheart and hes been a great boyfriend. I am happy she's happy.
When she finishes talking, I am laughing and I look over to Josiah by accident and he looks at me with pain his face, and he does not look away. I just stare at him and then turn to James and start talking to him to distract myself.
When I turn again, Josiah is talking to Kayla with an uninterested look on his face, which makes me feel a little happy.
"Hey, lets go outside." James places his hand on mines, having a nice warm touch, which makes me feel less cold.
"Okay." I say and we leave the chattering cafeteria.

After school, I see Diana talk briefly to Kayla and leaves, coming my way. I raise my hand to say hi, and she looks awkward, avoiding me, not even acknowledging me.
I watch as she goes and then turn back around and see Kayla very angry. She is fidgeting, and looking dead at me, with a look of wanting to destroy me.
I thought she was going to come towards me, but instead, she turns around and walks out of my sight.
What was that all about?
I just go to my bus, thinking about how cool James was today.
