Girls Just Want to Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper

I stood by the bike rack, waiting for Richie. The day had been long and restless. Not because I had evening plans, just because school was always long and restless.
I drummed my fingers against the bike rack as my brother, Freddie, approached me. Freddie was a year older than me; 18. My mom basically got pregnant with me right after his birth. I guess my parents were in love at some point. They had to be to make children so fast.
Our parents weren't divorced. My father still worked to support our family, but he was older than Mom. He had a steady job and we were all well supported. This wasn't uncommon, so I didn't really think much of it.
Freddie threw his keys in the air and caught them, "ready to go home, Brand?"
I shook my head, "nope. I'm going out with some friends today."
He nodded sharply, a stiffness in his voice, "oh," he began, "are these friends of yours... boys?"
I nodded, "yes. But they're just friends. There's no need to worry."
He nodded once more, "be safe."
Then Freddie turned away, leaving me alone with my drumming fingers.
I turned to see Eddie and Richie walking down the stairs of the school.
"Hey Dee," Beverly said from behind me.
I jumped, shocked by her presence. "You scared me Bev!"
She laughed, "sorry. Your brother just left, isn't he giving you a ride home?"
I shook my head, "nope. Richie invited me to hang out with him and Eddie today."
Beverly smirked, "Richie's so good to Eddie, being a wingman."
"What do you mean by that?" I scrunched my eyebrows together.
Beverly, yet again, smirked, "oh you'll find out sooner or later."
She then turned on her heal and walked away, leaving me in wonder of what she could have meant.
Richie and Eddie had walked the stretch of land between the front of the school and the bike racks, and they were now standing in front of me.
"Hey," Richie said casually.
I smiled at him lightly, "hi Bitchie."
Eddie smiled at me, laughing at my nickname for Richie, "hey Brandy."
I had never really talked to Eddie before, but he seemed nice. He was always fairly quiet in class, quite the opposite his trashmouth friend. He had soft brown eyes and freckles littered across his nose. Eddie had a nice smile and had blossomed into a fairly good looking boy over the years.
I smiled brightly back at Eddie, "hi Eddie!"
He looked down, smiling slightly.
Richie nudged him, whispering something into his ear.
"Shut the fuck up, Richie," Eddie punched him in the arm. Richie laughed, rubbing the spot Eddie punched.
"So, Miss Hunt, are you ready for the time of your life?" Richie said to me. I nodded.
Richie turned and started walking towards the road, "then what the fuck are you waiting for?"
I laughed, walking next to Eddie.
I turned to Eddie and whispered to him, "do you have any idea where we're going?"
Eddie turned back to me, smirking, "I have no clue. Richie's kind of spontaneous."
