The Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy
☀︎
I felt the warmth of the morning sun dance across my slightly pink cheeks.
My eyes fluttered open and I yawned, stretching.
It was a clear, cold winters day. Just as the weather man had predicted.
I rolled over sleepily and glanced at my clock. It was 11:45. I had slept almost the whole day away.
With one last yawn, I groggily crawled out of bed, slowly proceeding down the stairs.
"Good morning, pumpkin!" my mother said a bit too peppily for my morning self.
"Good morning," I said softly. My voice was high and soft in the mornings.
I grabbed a granola bar and ate it quickly, "I'm going to go over to Bev's today. Is that alright Mama?"
My mother nodded her head, "me and Eileen are getting our nails done today, if you two want to come."
I raised an eyebrow at Eileen and she shrugged. Getting my nails done wasn't exactly my cup of tea, I'd just chip them shortly after they were painted anyway, so I'd much rather do them myself.
"It's fine Mom. You two have fun!"
I jogged back up the stairs and got ready for the day.
Once I was all dressed and ready, I headed back downstairs and called Beverly on our phone.
I quickly dialed the numbers by memory, listening to the rings.
She picked up, "hello this is Beverly Marsh."
"Hey Bev, it's me," I said into the phone.
"Oh hey Dee. What's up?"
"Can we do something today?"
"Yeah, sure. I kind of told Bill we'd hang out with the Losers Club today anyway. I didn't ask you first before committing you to the event, though. Oops. Sorry."
I laughed and twirled the cord on my finger, "it's fine. I'll be at your house in five minutes."
"Okay bye."
"Bye Bevvy."
I hung up the phone and grabbed my coat, slipping my shoes on.
"Bye Mom!" I called.
"Bye sweetheart! Don't be out too late!"
I shut the door behind me and walked towards Beverly's house.

About two minutes into walking, I was stopped by a pack of sophomore girls.
"Oh my gosh, Brandy! Hey!" I could hear the fakeness in their voice. I could feel how they were trying to butter me up so I could make them look good for upperclassmen boys.
"Hi!" I sAid with a bright smile, quickly walking past them. A disappointed look crossed their faces, but they would quickly get over it. I would have stopped and talked, but I had places to be.
I rounded the corner onto Beverly's street and rang her doorbell.
Her aunt opened the door, "oh! Hello Brandy!"
"Hello! Is Beverly ready to go?"
She smiled at me, "yup. She's right here."
I smiled as Beverly slipped out the door, "Bye! I'll see you later."
