After hearing Spring Day by the famous Kpop boy group BTS, I felt the urge to write a heart-warming book again. Please listen to it and watch the music video. The song is filled with feels and it made me miss my old friends big time. (Yes, my Korean vocabulary is very limited but you can find the English translation of Spring Day on the Internet for more feels.)
Because I miss my friends, I "visited" them on their social media accounts. I was stunned by the changes that I've seen in their lives– things I would probably never know if I hadn't checked on them on the Internet. But more than that, I was ashamed of myself after realizing that I had to "stalk" them online just to catch up with them. I felt terrible as a friend, if I could even call myself one.
The regret, longing, frustration, and all the strange emotions I felt back then made me write Night Sky. Yeah, this is kind of cheesy (and even cringe-worthy) but I sincerely dedicate this book to every friend I have neglected while I was too busy 'adulting.' I am sorry.
Disclaimer: Marami ring pinagdaanan ang Night Sky bago ito na-approve. Isa sa naging comments ng evaluator eh na-remind daw siya ng dalawang Japanese movies at isang Kdrama no'ng una. Medyo in-expect ko na 'yon dahil cliché ang time travelling trope na ginamit ko. At first, na-discourage ako at gusto ko na sanang i-pull out ang novel na 'to kasi ayokong ma-issue na nanggaya ng kuwento. Pero hindi ko ginawa kasi na-encourage din ako sa sinabi ng editor na may mga scenes na naiyak siya (thank you po, Miss Salve) saka umaasa din ako na lulutang ang uniqueness ng Night Sky. Saka kahit pa'no, naniniwala akong may sarili itong tatak. I hope you also see the beauty unique in Night Sky. Thank you.
