Chapter 23

Pegasus turned to Y/N with a surprised look.

" Why?" She asked.

Y/N didn't reply but just nodded her head, gesturing for her to go inside and went in. Pegasus quickly rushed forward and followed after Y/N before gasping herself.

There, lying on a big bed, was the Queen of Darkness. She looked weak and frail. Her bluish-white hair looked thin and dull and her silver eyes drooped. She was also thin. Maybe a bit too thin. Jack Dark was beside her, talking softly to her but stopped when his mother's eyes landed on a certain girl with feathery wings.

" Peg... Pegasus?" the queen croaked weakly. Her voice was raspy and strained.

" Mo... m... mom?" Pegasus slowly whispered, though her voice still echoed in the room.

Tears were welling up in her eyes. Jack Dark was even more shocked as he heard Pegasus called their mother "mom". Y/N and the others all thought it's best to stay outside and let them have a family time.
As they walked outside, Hazelia caught a glimpse of something white floating and sneaking into a corner and she told the others she's going somewhere before following the mysterious floating thing.

While back in the room, Pegasus walked slowly to her mother's opened arms. Her mother pulled her in an embrace and they cried together.

" I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm so, so, sorry, my darling," the queen said through tears.

Jack Dark just kept silent as he watched the two hugged each other.

" You... you left me." Pegasus sniffled. " And... and you attacked dad's place." she added.

She was shocked herself that she gave in too easily. She thought she would turn away and scream or something but something made her forget everything as she saw her mother lying on the bed.

" I know... I-I w-was being emotional and angry," her mother replied.

" And you didn't even go to my funeral..." Pegasus softly let out.

Her mother then froze and pulled away to look at her daughter.

" Oh, my... you died? Who... who killed you?" her voice shook.

" Evelyn Evans... previously known as the Queen of Evils. But, she's my sister now." Pegasus said, wiping her tears.

" Oh, honey. I... I didn't know. I'm sorry, Pegasus. I'll do anything for you to earn your forgiveness." the queen said and took both Pegasus's hands. " Please forgive me, Pegasus. Forgive your brother too." she added. Then she bursted into tears again.

Pegasus just watched her mother.

" I was angry with you... I truly was. I kinda hated you, really," she said and the queen let out a sob.

" I know... hate me for all you want. I deserve it. You don't deserve me. You should've had a better mother," the queen said.

" I used to hate the word "Mom" too," Pegasus said again. " But... you're my mother and... I forgive you." she finished.

The queen breathed in relief and they both hugged again, this time smiling. Though the queen's tears didn't stop. Then Pegasus pulled away and turned to Jack Dark.

" And you, Jack Dark. Or should I call you brother?" Pegasus asked and stood up. " Huh, you really don't understand how I feel do you? Remember, I—" Pegasus trailed when Jack Dark interrupted her.

" I know what's coming next," he muttered.

" —forgive you," Pegasus finished and Jack Dark's eyes widened.
