TW: Death, violence, and tragic events.

Michael and I where having a blast. We had gone roller skating, had dinner, and finished with a movie. Now we're driving back to my place to have a sleepover.

“That was amazing!”

“Ya think so?” Michael keeps his eyes on the road.

“Absolutely!”

Michael smiles, making me smile.

He looks over at me.

I look at him then back at the road. “Michael, lookout!”

Everything goes black.

I open my eyes, the room is too bright. I blink my eyes a few times, then everything comes into focus, a hospital room. My ears ring and my head hurts. A doctor walks in. I speak, but I can't hear my voice. The ringing stops and I try again, I still can't hear anything. I start to panic, I try over and over again, but nothing changes. By this point nurses and doctors are pinning me down, trying to keep me from hurting myself.

The doctor walks in with a white board and starts to write on it. You were found on the hood of the car, you had flown through the windshield. The impact damaged your hearing. Bad news is this may not be temporary.

I look down. I could be deaf… forever?

“I could be deaf?” I say, but not able to hear.

The doctor nods. You also have some temporary memory loss.

Memory loss… Michael! I need know if he's okay.

“Michael? He was in he crash with me! His okay? Please tell me he's okay!”

Michael is okay, but he is in a coma.

A… coma? I swing my legs over the side of the bed. “Can I see him?”

The doctor nods and helps me to Michael's room. There he is, laying in a bed. He has a breathing tube down his throat, he has bandages around his head, and hooked up to several different machines.

I start to sob and curl up next him. Michael. I'm so, so sorry. I love you so much.

It had only been about an hour since my last check in when the doctor walks in and writes on the whiteboard. We are sorry to inform you, but, Michael had died.

“What?!” The doctor winces at how loud my voice must have been. “How?!”

Michael coded and we were not able to save him, I'm sorry.

I start to sob. Michael's gone… he's gone…

After I finish sobbing I look up. The doctor left a message on the board. We might have a way for you to be able to hear again. It's still just a clinic, but we've had many people say it works just fine. We were thinking it might work for you. Buzz when you get this.

I click the call button a few times. Only five minutes later my doctor walks in and points at the board. I nod.

The lady places the device into my ear, I adjust it so it fits in properly. The lady walks over to her computer and does a few things.

“Okay. Can you hear?”

I gasp. “I… I can! Oh my God! I can hear!”

The lady giggles.

“W-what's your name?”

“Nancy.”

“Nancy… That is a very pretty name.”

“Thank you”

I walk through the front door, dad behind me.I hold Michael's sweater in my hand.

“So, kiddo? Do want something to eat?”

“Sure.”

I head up to my room and sob on my bed. Dad comes in and set whatever he made on my desk. He sits on the end of my bed and rubs my back. “It'll be okay.”

I sit up and hug my dad as tight as I could.

I am really sorry. This is super trashy. I promise the next one will be better.
