Hey guys.... uh sorry, I kinda mixed up Evan and Connor's mom's because I'm a stupid, but I fixed it! So. It's fixed... enjoy.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sit curled up on the couch spinning my fidget spinner. Jeremy sits on the other end of the couch, probably wanting to beat me up or make fun of me.
“You know that trend died out years ago.”
“What made you say that, Jeremy?” Dr. Faren asks, our family therapist.
“Oh, come on, you can't tell me that's not annoying!” He snaps and gestures towards me.
I just keep playing with the spinner, minding my own business.
“You find it annoying?”
“I find him annoying!”
“And why is that?”
“All he does is talk nonsense about trees. All he is ‘tree this, tree that’ it's stupid, and annoying! Also, he's so awkward and tense all the time! He needs a chill pill.”
“Is there something you can do to try to deal with your annoyance with him?”
He laughs. “Yeah, pay a price. He'll go from sad to interesting, to hip.”
Dr. Faren looks a little confused.
“He, uh, he means a squip.” I point it out for her
“Ah. Now that isn't a very smart idea, now is it?”
“No. It's a horrible machine,” He looks at me with a hard stare. “I want him to suffer.”
I bite lip, trying not to cry.
“Is it because of your suffering from the squip, that you wish pain upon him?”
He gives her a mean glare.
“I'll take that as a yes.” She puts her attention on me. “Evan, how do you feel about Jeremy?”
“W-well, uh, at first, I thought we could be friends? But, uh, I. I think I messed it up?” My voice cracks and I bite my lip once more to trying to keep myself from crying.
“Messed it up? How?”
“I, uh. Um.” I take a deep breath.
Before I can say anything Jeremy make a comment. “Here we go with the dramatics.”
I roll my eyes. “Well, I tried talking to him, and, uh, I. I tried talking to him, and think I made the wrong first impression!” I said way too fast.
She now turns to Jeremy. “Can you recall the first time you and Evan talked?”
Jeremy nods. “He made a fool out of himself. He told me his name, which I already knew. When I went to shake his hand, it was sweaty and gross.”
Let out a small chuckle.
Jeremy turns to me. “What are you laughing at?”
“Every time I get nervous, my hands get sweaty.”
“And you think that's funny?!” He snaps at me. “It's gross!”
“I'm sorry.”
“I think,” Dr. Faren says. “I see the problem.”
“Y-you think?” I say hopefully.
She nods. “Unfortunately, we will have to try to work it out next time.”
