"I'm fine."
I'm not fine.
"I'm okay! Stop worrying about me!"
I'm not okay, I'm dying inside.
"I don't need help, guys, I'm doing better!"
I will never be good enough, I can't escape.

Help me.

...

"I'm fine."
I'm not fine, AND these feelings will pass.
"I'm okay! Stop worrying about me."
I'm not okay, AND my friends and family care about me.
"I'm getting better!"
I will never be good enough, I can't escape, AND thoughts don't always have to be true.

This is a technique that my school counselor taught me for when my depression gets too much to handle.

So, this is your brain. Cool, right? You have two sides to your mind, the emotional mind and the reasonable mind. Sometimes, you can get stuck in the emotional mind, and this is where these depressing thoughts come from.

What's the thing in the middle, you ask? That's the wise mind, which many don't know how to use. That's when you use BOTH halves of your brain; you connect them with an AND.

Here's an example:

I'll never be good enough, AND I'll just try harder.

I'm not okay, AND I'm getting better.

I'm stupid, AND I just need to study more.

See?

This has been helping me A LOT.

Hey (insert school counselor's name here; you know who you are) if you see this, I just wanted to say thank you for helping me through everything. I want to be a school counselor now, just so I can be as helpful as you. Again, thank you so much.

 Again, thank you so much
