If I could either have one million dollars or send a message to my past self, I would choose the latter in a heartbeat.
Dear Past Me,
I know that you're probably busy trying to eat crayons and antagonize your little brother, but I need you to look past your kindergarten life for a little bit. You may be excited about middle school and high school, but being naive will only bring you down.
Middle school is going to be the hardest point of your whole life. You may think that high school is the most challenging, but that assumption is wrong. Middle school is like a tinier, more stressful version of high school; except everyone is up in everyone else's business and teachers give you more work than you can handle. You are going to go through multiple rough periods through these few years, but you get through each and every one of them with a huge smile on your face and scars all over the place.
It's going to be tough, and will have the urge to quit approximately 9,001 times; but there will always be supportive people in your life to help you through these things. (Also, don't be stubborn and angry at people for trying to get you help; most of them know what's best for you. So, just deal with it, and make it work for you.)
Heartbreak is going to happen, quite a few times. Don't worry about why they broke up with you, just focus on moving on. It's going to be difficult, but don't push friendship right away. Friendship will come along in time. Just hang in there.
DO NOT DO THINGS THAT YOU AREN'T READY FOR. Speak your mind; that is the most important advice I can give you. If you don't want to do something, just say so. No one will hate you for it.
High school is also going to be tough. Keep up with your homework, take notes, try your hardest on the tests. Don't fight people when it isn't worth it. Even if someone is wrong, sometimes you just have to let it go.
There are still going to be jerks in high school. There will also be people who are toxic. Just know who you are, and remind yourself of that. You'll be okay. They can't change you if you don't let them.
Also, try not to get roped into drama. Once your in it, there is no way out.
In other words, you're gonna be fine. Just stay alive, okay?
Sincerely,
Me.
