CHAPTER 16: WITH LOVE, A CAKE

"Can you see, those two stars at the centre that are shining with all their glory ?" She spoke softly. I nodded in response. "They are my parents, my mamma and my pa." She said smiling that didn't had a glint of even a pinch of sadness. "Do you really believe in these stuffs ?" I asked surprised. Well, I didn't took her for the superstitious one. "I do." She said slowly and then moved her vision to a different angle. At the corner of the sky in respect to our view, there was this one big star.

She kept looking at it, maybe reminiscing some memories. Her eyes were filled with some strong emotion. The one, I haven't seen in her and knew could be in her.

Not wanting to pry, I sat silently. The peaceful aura was more than comforting and I slowly began absorbing the surroundings. The view looked picturesque.

"Come, its late Shivaay. Let's head back to our hotel." She pointed out with a small smile. The walk to the hotel was silent. Once we reached there, we departed.

Laying down in my bed, with my hands folded, I remembered one embarrassing moment I encountered with her. Basically when we were done with shopping, a time came when she want to shop alone. Me being naive, not so still asked her why did she wanted to do the same to which she remained silent and spoke in hushed tones thereafter.

"Shivaay, could you please wait, I will come. I have some important work." Anika said her face looking comical.

"What urgent work do you have ?" I said confused.

"Actually, Shivaay I want to buy something !!" She forced a smile wiggling her eyebrows.

I wiggled my eyebrows too with the flow. "What do you want Anika ?? Do you wanna impress me ?" I said.

"And do you really think, I am this free to impress you ! I mean, use a little brain, its not for free." She said a little angry.

I went into a dilemma. What do she want to buy, that she didn't want to let me know ? Got it. "Anika you should have told me earlier. It would have not been an issue." I said.

She gave me an apologetic look and looked a little flustered. "But its not your fault Anika. I will talk to Sahil about that. Don't worry. He is a young man of 10, he will understand" I said understanding. I mean if she is buying diapers for Sahil, it should not be a shame. I know he is 10 but he ought to understand that he cannot pee in his pants like this.

"Oh my god. Shivaay why the hell would you tell Sahil, this thing ? Have you seriously lend your brain to the washer man or have you become a nincompoop ? You sure are a thing. I mean beside your temper, I thought that you have a sense of understanding but why the hell would you tell Sahil, that I want to buy my undies......??" The sudden realization struck her and her hand clamped over her mouth.

I awkwardly coughed.

And headed to wait for her outside. Thank god, the people inside the mall couldn't understand what we were saying or else it would not have been late if the problem would already have knocked us over.

That was sure an embarrassing moment.

I looked over the watch to see it was one at night. I took a cold shower, freshened myself and made myself clad in kurta and pyjamas. Tomorrow is a big day for the Oberoi empires. It would make them flourish, if I would conquer this deal and I sure would do that.

The morning sun rays did a quick hello to me, making me aware of their presence. Taking I bath, I headed over to the meeting spot. I messaged Anika about my where-about.

The meeting hall was splendid and the people were fashionably dressed, so as they looked out of place.

"Mr Oberoi." He said plastering a smile. I did a nod and started the presentation. The notes page view became useful as I tried not to parrot the presentation.

"It's impressive, we will let you know about our thoughts." They said giving me a hand shake. "Of course." I have them a firm look and retreated back to hotel. 4 more days are left to reach the India back. Thinking about India, a sudden feeling of being homesick hit me, making me feel nauseous.

Looking over the phone, I found that today is the Valentine's day. Typically I don't like the idea and consider it one of the most idiotic day. But since it's about love and not love just between a girl and boy, but between family, your friends and to be with them the whole day and spend it with all the care you have for them. Thinking of all this, I dialed Rudra's cell.

"Hey Rudra. How are you doing ?" I asked over the cell. "Bhaiya, I am doing just fine before I met you, I forget why I left you, am going insane..." Rudra slurred. "What are you saying ?" I asked. "Bhaiya....I am at a party and haven't you heard this song by Chaismokers ?? It's such a good one. That's why I tell you....to behave like you are in young generation." He spoke laughing. "Is Saumya there ?" I asked a little frustrated.

"Sumo...., Bhaiya has called." He shouted and then I heard the angelic voice. "Hey Saumya, having a great time ?" I said, a little smile playing over my lips. I am glad that she is with Rudra and taking care of him.

"Bade Bhaiya, I am good. What about you ? Rudra kinda forced me to come here to this party. I denied as I had work but I gave up after his puppy faces that were undoubtedly cute. Now I know why he is the most pampered one !" She exclaimed giggling slowly. "Okay, you both enjoy yourselves and bring Rudra home soon. I heard him and he sounded tipsy." I said to which she spoke, "Sure. He was."

A warm curl spread over my lips and suddenly I didn't felt so much lonely.

Feeling hungry, I had a sudden ardent desire to bake a cake. It's been a long time since I devoted myself to the kitchen. With the master chef cap on my head and apron draped over me, I busied myself over the work.

The batter looked quite delicious and I had a hard time to resist my temptation to eat it, then and there. Tasting some from the spoon, I couldn't help but visualise how the reaction of the two, the one whose body cells are made up of plasma and the toddler's reaction would be.

Eating some myself, I wrapped some cake in a jar that was available and wrote : With love, a cake and kept it in a basket making my way through their room.

Heyaa everyone ! I am much early this time, considering it hasn't even been a day before I uploaded. I really do think that it's not just a love between a boy and girl but between each of us. Basically I think what Shivaay did was a cute gesture to give a some of the cake to Anika and Sahil as a symbol of their budding friendship considering they don't have a family. Well, thank you for reading.
