*BEEP* *BEEP*

Slamming my hand for the third time onto my alarm clock it finally stops making a sound.
I groan deafeningly but roll out of bed nonetheless.

I process my morning routine as always. Taking a quick shower, eat breakfast, brush my teeth and then the styling, which depends on my daily mood.

Today, I decide to let my hair down in it's natural waves and apply only a light coat of makeup, which consists of mascara, filling in my brows and a bit of eyeshadow in the crease.

I just love makeup.

Furthermore, I pick out blue jeans and a cropped striped top.

I look into the mirror, pleased with my today's look before leaving my apartment and making my way to school.

Walking into the school's hallway I can see Malia and Lydia standing at the end of it.

"Hey guys." I greet them with a smile.

"Morning." Lydia responds but doesn't hesitate to give free rein to her mind. "Why didn't you answer your phone? I've tried calling you, okay I admit it was in the middle of the night, but still. Liam says you left Sinema and that you were acting a bit strange. The point is, after you've left, they spotted another chimera which got killed by the dread doctors." She enlightens me, while handing me over the book she had in her hands. "But it's not over yet ... Someone's taking the bodies."

I eye the book in my hands. Curious-looking guys with masks printed on it as cover picture. I wipe my thumb over the letters of the title. 'THE DREAD DOCTORS'.

"Alessia? Did you just hear what we told you?" Malia asks, nudging me.

I look back up into their faces, tucking a strand behind my ear.
"Uh - yes I did."

"And you're not shocked? Or even surprised?" Malia continues.

"Uh .. of course I am. Totally. I just think everything is possible in this city so my shock is limited."

I'm pretty content with my spontaneous excuse, yet I could bite my ass. I should stop using 'uh' so much. Makes me sound dumb and my excuse more inauthentic.

"What's with the book? Has anyone read it yet?" I ask the girls while we continue our way to our lockers.

"Just me." Malia answers. "And I didn't understand any of it."

"We should probably all read it." I suggest.

"Kira's working on that."

While Malia puts some books into her locker, Lydia reads the summary of the book aloud.

"Sounds vaguely familiar." She states.

"Yeah, vaguely." I add.

I can feel my phone vibrating in my back pocket, so I take it out and check the screen. Only now I can see Lydia's and Scott's missed calls since it's the first time I check my phone this morning, but the notification I just got is because of a text from Derek, checking on me like he does every week.
Deciding to answer him later, I put it back but feel something else in my pocket. That's when I remember that I pursed Theo's card since I wanted to confront him with it today.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you Lydia, but I just remember I forgot something really important. I'm just gonna go and check on it .. I'll see ya later." I say while I have already taken some steps backwards.

I turn around fully and make my way to ... Stop. I've no clue where Theo could be, let alone where he actually is!

Fortunately I have a free period, because it seems like I have to make my rounds through school and follow my nose. Literally.
