She wonders how exactly she ended up alone with them as she watches them with slightly narrowed eyes, not really noticing her expression as she listens to the two girls chatter away.
"Where are the guys again?" She asks for what felt like the millionth time.
Elora and Rhea glance at each other, silently noticing how uncomfortable the brunette was without her two guy friends.
"They'll probably be back soon enough..." Elora offers with a kind smile.
They all had biology class together, but then boom, class ended and suddenly all three guys disappeared. The brunette heard James talking to the other guys about showing them the school's wrestling team. But something told her that wasn't a very good idea, it had been a couple weeks, but the tension between Blaze and Dylan was still there. And so joining the wrestling team, where they'd have an excuse to hurt one another, didn't necessarily seem like a great idea to her.
The girls were huddled in the bathroom, Leona watched as the two girls reapplied their lipstick and saw no point in even doing so. Because lunch was nearing and then their lipstick would be eaten along with their food. At least that was Leona's perspective.
"Since the guys are joining the wrestling team, why don't you join the dance team, Leo?"
Rhea stops from applying a second coat of lipstick and looks excitedly at the silent brunette through the mirror. Elora had started nodding, when Leona widens her eyes and starts shaking her head vigorously.
"No, I was actually planning on joining the wrestling team..." She trails off at the looks she found herself receiving from them.
The idea did pop up in her mind, that way she'd be able to keep an eye on the guys and prevent any possible murder taking place on campus. But now on the mention of the dance team, the idea seemed to grow bigger in her head.
"The wrestling team...?" Rhea asks with a confused tilt of her head, now turning around to fully face the brunette.
"Yeah, is there a problem with that?" Leona asks, genuinely confused.
"No! She just meant that it would've been nice to have you on the dance team with us. But of course you could join the wrestling team if you want..."
Elora was quick to cover up for her friend's slip up. Something about Leona told her that she didn't appreciate being underestimated.
"Okay" Leona replies with a grin at the concept of being able to let her anger out at someone else.
Leaving the bathroom, the three girls make their way down the hall and to their lockers. They get the things they'd be needing for the next class, Rhea closes her locker door silently and leans against it to face the other two girls.
"So...homecoming is just around the corner. Does any of you have a date?"
"No-" Elora started.
"We need a date for homecoming?"
But was cut off by Leona's confused tone of voice, which makes the two girls turn quickly to face her.
"I mean, I thought we'd all just go together..." She shrugs in response to their unasked question.
"Well, yeah...but it'd be nice to have a date, you know?" Rhea said with a twinkle in her eyes, receiving a shrug from Leona.
And the memory of her past reemerges, the one where she used to have a normal life. Just another normal girl, that fantasized about her prom with her boyfriend, the one she was hopelessly in love with. And that memory now acted like bile to her.
