"I know daddy can't put you to bed," I sigh. "He'll be here soon." I nod rocking her back and forth in my arms while we sit in our rocking chair. Shawn went out, he was at a bar I think. "He'll be here soon," I kiss her small button nose and feed her again in hopes that she'll go to sleep. "You are a hungry baby." I chuckle looking down at her. "So hungry." I stand and walk to our room, we moved today. Shawn has spent the last year almost building us this house and we moved in this morning.
"Cameron darling?" His mom smiles softly. "Your phone," she walks in handing it to me. "So precious," She nods at me. She takes my baby girl while she finishes feeding and she does what she can to get her to sleep.
"Hello?" I question into my buzzing phone.
"Cameron White?"
"This is she?" My heart rate rises quickly, it's always serious when they say your full name.
"Your husband, Shawn Mendes, does that ring any bells?" My eyes go wide, he probably got into a fight and got himself thrown in jail. I'll have to go bail him out.
"Yes," I nod rolling my eyes slightly. Why call him my husband and ask me if I know him. If he's my husband I obviously do.
"This is the Toronto hospital. There's been an accident, your husband was brought in. He was having a seizure, we did an extant and found a nail lodged in his brain for whatever reason. We have some paperwork for you if you wouldn't mind and we'd like to operate, how fast could you get down here?"
"About twenty minutes?" I bite down on my lip grabbing the car seat knowing his family will want to come. They're helping out for the week.
"Every second counts." The call is then ended.
"Karen?" I mumble shyly, we're now on first name basis which is really good for me. "I got a call from the hospital, Shawn's been having seizures and they want to put him into surgery. I'm headed I assumed you would all want to come too." I breath as fast as I can strapping our infant into her car seat which widens her little eyes with excitement.
"Thank you," She nods rushing around to find her husband and daughter.
"Will we take one or separate cars?" I ask urgently while I collect her bag and grab a sweater, it's his but I don't want to freeze. I cover our baby girl with one and she giggles.
"We can take one," she nods rushing out the door.
...
"Baby girl," I pout laying her on his chest, she just wants him to give her a hug. She's so young but she's so smart. She just looks around and makes weird noises at the worst of times, but she knows us. She knows us all. And he's her daddy, and all she wants are cuddles, she cries whenever I move her. "Come on we need to go," I lift her tiny body off of him and fluff his hair a little. "A baby, and a boyfriend with TBI," I chuckle to myself. "You're gonna make my life so hard." I kiss his forehead. "Please stay to make my life hard." I beg rubbing my forehead against his.
"He likes it when you talk to him," a nurse nods. "He can hear you, he just probably doesn't know what you're telling him."
"I love you," I whisper in his ear. "I love you so much, baby we're gonna get married," I kiss his cheek. "We're gonna have more babies, and we're gonna live together for the rest of our lives." I beg putting Skylar in the carrier I wear. "And you're gonna be here for it." He's in a medically induced coma, they say three days, but it's been three hours and I can't bare the silence.
"We're headed home," his mom nods at me and I sigh.
"I have to go," I whisper kissing his cheek again, Skylar is finally asleep and I'm so thankful. "I'll come back and visit you tomorrow." I mumble and nod. I still have nearly nine months left on my maternity, and thank god I'm dating he owners son. I love him to pieces, but now when I can't, go to work I don't have to worry.
"Goodbye darling," his mom kisses his forehead and we both make off down the halls of the hospital. "The next time I wanted to be here was for the birth of your next child together." She chuckles at herself. "Do you know how he managed to get a nail lodged in his brain and not know it?" I laugh a little.
"He's always been oblivious," I smile to myself while we walk out of the hospital. His dad and sister are probably already in her car. "I really do love your son." I nod at her trying to express my empathy for her and her situation. "I'm so upset about all of this and it hurts my heart, but I know you must feel even worse. If anything happened to Skylar," I look at the child strapped to my chest. "I don't know what I'd do."
"I understand love, he must be a big part of your life if you let him father your child." She smiles touching her dusty brown hair.
"He's everything to me," I nod looking at my baby girl, I can feel her drool on my shirt. "She wouldn't let him go, she cried every time I moved her." My tiny baby is so attached.
"Bless her," she smiles, she carries her car seat.
"She needs some sleep, but all she wanted was daddy to sing her to sleep." I sigh to myself. "I don't think he'll be able to sing her to sleep much more." I hug her softly, but tightly. "She's gonna be so sad." I mumble wiping my eyes.
"We were thinking, for he first month of his recovery we could bring him back home, or stay with you guys. Just so we can deal with him while you deal with the baby." I don't agree with it. I would appreciate the help, but I want to care for him too. I'm not completely useless.
"If it wouldn't be to much trouble, I'd prefer if you moved in." I mumble shyly. "I don't want to make you mad or anything, I just want to be incorporated in his recovery as well." I nod at her and she nods back.
"Alright love, we'll just move in." She smiles leading me to the car.
"Nanny and papa are moving in." I giggle at my sleeping baby girl. "They're moving in."
